I think their under estimating that speed.I'm going back to the navy days, the uss nimitz went 45 knots and that was only on one reactor..not bad for a 100,000 ton ship and is 1098 feet long(not loaded) at that seed out in the atlantic the wind speeds were 80 mph,it made a E2 hawk eye look like it was hoovering in air when they came in for landing.

I was wondering the same thing. I certainly HOPE we didn't just tell the pirates how fast she'll really go.

Not nearly the ships top end... Most would be surprised on how fast a carrier REALLY goes... you wouldn't believe it... and you really really wouldn't believe how fast some of our subs go....:shocker:

The "NORMAL" hull speed (1.34 X the square root of the distance between perpendiculars) of a 1098' hull is 44.4 Knots, or about 50 MPH.
This can be easily accomplished with "NORMAL" power. The "right" displacement hull can be driven to maybe 1.5 so it gives maybe close to 60 MPH. I would imagine anything faster would be hard to accomplish.

The "little" boat is apparently a trimaran....maybe similar to a "Fast Cat" in function so that so that the three hulls have a very long beam/length ratio.
Using such processes make a hull very easy to drive.
I wouldn't even guess what the maximum speed would be.

The real speed is always secret
That way you can't figure out how fast they will deploy.
