How much horsepower would you say is needed to turn a 25P @4800 rpm?

a small block with 1.5 alpha.

I been having good luck with the stock quick silver mirage II. so let's go with that 3 blade stainless 25P quick silver mirage II

that depends? weight,BB SB drive ratio? with a 1.50 ratio,i would sat between 385-425 depending on the weight.

I edited it, small block with the alpha 1.5.

This being the 350 mag with 4 barrel webber, it would have 300hp out of the box ? I'm thinking it's 650cfm carb.

I'd like to steer away from cleavers as I climb the drive to board the boat from the water

If you are turning a 21@4800 a 25 will dog you down real bad! You would turn about 4000!

yes theoretically it would.
What I'm trying to figure out is how much more horse power I would need to turn the 25 at the same rpm

100 more ponies

or 75 ponies & @ ge@r ch@nge up to 1.6

but keeping the 1.5 will give you more speed

the 1.5 @4800 25 pitch with 10% slip is 68
the 1.6 will be 64

I say 350 at the PROP. So 375-ish up front.

My un-educated guess. :)

OK thank you gentle man. so it would appear that a minimum of 390 to 400 HP.

Now how to achieve this in a recession:kingme:
Maybe a list of mods with there potential HP increase:shades:

Eddlebrock makes a nice pump up kit,but I don't want to re-cam it, as all the mods will be done with the block still in the boat.
"no holes to the engine compartment":bonk:

I have old style heads, so Vortec heads lead to a new intake manifold which would lead to a new lung"carb" as I wouldn't want it to be asthmatic:screwy:

It seems a pro charger packs the most bang for the buck.
this motor only having a 2 bolt main makes me weary of that.but I'm not looking to excessively wind her up" yah I say that now:drool:".Just get more out of her at cruise:woot:

what do you:idea:

leaving no stone unturned for increases in speed from small stones to big stones

1. prop tweaking

2. removing weight like new exhaust

3. engine mods

4. getting a shorty

5. or just putting all your stones in one basket and go for it

each item can except 1 and 4 go hand in hand like going to alum heads might see an increase in power and a decrease in weight or making a mild engine that needs to breathe then having to upgrade the exhaust.

no matter what you do the old addage $1000 per mph seems to hold true with the shorty being the best return on investment

A two bolt main wouldnt hold me back :) i use to run a two bolt main 314 in my donzi, lasted 15 years and the only reason i took it out out was because i wanted to go faster..i would wing it to 5600 all day long....
