How much does it weigh in at? Huge cockpit area like a Sonic 24.

Wonder how it would run with a 540? :nilly: :nilly:
I was hoping a 6.2 would fit without mods not to molest, a 540 You might have to cut the floor:bonk:This is a nice clean boat I like it.I say 5k plus to make it right. I am still a buyer if you want to talk.
Thanks Jim

Thanks for the great feedback everyone! I still love this boat and took very good care of it over the years. It is nice to have enthusiasts notice!
I think she weighs in at 3500lbs.
I was considering the Mercruiser 357 magnum reconditioned engine. This should be OK with the alpha. Just need an extra water intake.
Or, the new 5.7 liter 'power pack'. Since the risers/starter/etc. is new, this would be a good choice with a little extra labor to swap all the stuff.
But, I don't have the time now with the new project, so hopefully i can find someone who will treat it right.
If you want to slip in the 540 and give it a try, I am game. :D:D:D

If it makes any potential buyers feel better that the boat is a good deal, In the last couple of years I spent: $2000 for the arch, $1500 for the bimini/3 sided enclosure, $2500 for the outdrive, $1600 for the exhaust manifolds and starter, $700 for the lowrance gps/fish finder, $500 for the coolers/matching cushions, $350 for the new stereo, and hundreds more for the the new trailer tires, washdown pump, extra bilge pumps, circuit breakers, batteries, lights, etc.

I easily spent more than $10K over the last few years alone. The boat is a steal for $10K. (Man, I am talking myself out of selling it! :nilly:)

Scott and others,

If someone wanted to keep the existing drive what do you all think the best "plug and play" engine option would be for this situation?

Just curious ..........any opinions welcome!

I also heard the remans have a tad more HP

see I go this way and when the alpha $hit the bed I would go bravo

And are both the 350 Mag MPI and the 377 both "plug and play" for Amorok's existing conditions?

I like the idea of the "new" Scorpion but with 400 "crankshaft" hp @ 6000RPM I think I will stick with my 377hp @ 5000rpm.....:lookaroun:

I wonder why they would not have stroked it to 406 or even 427.....

Flames on the intake look good though....

Fast,
Where did you get that purchase price?

So it looks like Matty 350 MAG MPI is the best "all arounder" new motor option for this rig?

Plug and Play
300 HP
Won't break the Alpha
Gets great fuel mileage
Has warranty

I have a friend in the bus but don't think the alpha is bullet proof behind the 300 hp cause that will come down to how agressive you are planing with that much boat if you come on plane easy it will serve well for some time,

I think if you shop you could get some competive numbers on these models

BTW I think all of the remans 350 MPI are set up for bravo use they can be converted though.

I know for a fact the 6.2's I had in a 292 formula that I ran in a pokerrun sticks to the stops for an hour staight never skipped a beat but I think the 383 are priced better and same warranty.

What is the warranty on the 383 and will the Alpha have a significantly shorter lifespan with that motor option ?

I think the alpha would be hard pressed to stand behind a singe 6.2 in that size boat but you need to pull current power anyway so change it out to a bravo1 and I know you can resell such a clean drive here or any where.

with as many years as the 454 lived in front of an Alpha, I seriously doubt the 6.2 would be a concientious challenge...
