It looks speedy, but just how speedy is it?

Very cool. That would thrive in a climate like Floridas. Now, how much do the batteries weigh ?

Free power and a 60 mph ride would probably make that thing sell.

I like how the solar panels look kind of like green wood. nice futuristic throwback.

The shape of the bow tells me the hull is not designed for planing. That shape indicates displacement-style plowing through the water. Thus, 50kts does not seem to be part of the design expectations.

Looks more like a work of art I would hang on the wall than it does an actual boat.

"10 meters, 30 knots, based on a winning race boat"

Er, 30 knots? There are racing blow-boats that can do that!

I think I've seen this somewhere before and it seems you're right - not particularly speedy.

Still, it's interesting. Can't imagine it will ever be mass-produced, but what the heck, at least they're driving the technology.

Worthless in Michigan unless it can pull uv rays thru 3 miles of dense cloud cover 360 days a year :boggled: At least our economy is prospering :nilly:

If it were up to Al Gore we would all be riding in a solar "speed" boats & battery powered kiddie cars~
All this while Al himself flies around in his fuel guzzling Gulfstream Jet proclaiming the perils on Global Warming !
He has made close to a half billion $$$$ with his little act!
NO SOLAR SPEED BOAT FOR ME!

You people with your stinky boats suck, and are ruining the earth!

Please send me a money order or cash ASAP, thanks.

These boats are built 'round the corner here...I've never seen one yet though

University had some pretty good achievements in that australian race, maybe this is related?

"Solar powered speedboat" is an oxymoron....for now anyway.

Doesn't this belong in another forum?

Why could you not make the solar panels thin enough so they could be used as a sail in a sail boat, thus giving thrust thru a propeller as well?

30kts on the sun is quite an achievement!
