I know this has been discussed numerous times and I have read most of the old threads about it but I am unclear about something.........

I gather that the Garelick seat slide is probably the best replacement for the stock cast seat slides in my 1995 18C...........

My question is, are these a straight swap? In other words, do the holes line up with the existing holes and is there any mods or alterations that are needed? All I really need is the deck base since the present ones are cracked....:boggled: But if the Garelick comes as a set, top and bottom I will replace all of it, just don't really want to be drilling more holes in the boat.....

No, you'll end up w/a different bolt pattern..at least I did.
Also on the Minx, there were tabs right in front of the seat pedastals so I couldn't easily tighten/loosen the mounting bolts, so this is what I did;

There were 6-8 mounting holes on the Garelick sliders I put in my '94 18. One set of holes lined up perfectly. The sliders I installed are part no. 75081.

I used the same ones as Tamburello in my '97 18 Classic and they were a straight swap. Holes lined up perfectly.

I installed garelick sliders in my 1995 18 classic. Had to to drill new mounting holes. The large hole was to put in the stainless tnuts. This is what it looked like when finished.

My Springfilelds that the boat shipped with literally came apart at 70+. Bad day and hard to drive from the backseat...

The Garelicks have taken a pounding and look brand new after seven years of abuse.

BTW, I am 6'4" and 240, so do the math on the pounding these things have taken.

Fog....I put these on my 22 this year and they are Rock solid...I'm not as big as Road Tripper 6/240 but I am as full of BS as he is....:kingme:

If you go Springfield get..
Tru-Lock 1000 Slide and Swivel
Item Number: 1100360

http://www.springfieldgrp.com/Tru-Lock_1000_Slide_and_Swivel.htm

This Springfield model is HEAVY DUTY..has no play...very tight and durable...plus a low profile.
see pic

I had the other type Springfield swivel/slide and it was terrible...

Universal Trac-Lock with 12-Way Swivel
Item Number: 1100318...DO NOT GET THIS ONE

good luck...:shades:
