Recently I placed ads in craigslist for a boat; lake property; and some miscellaneous stuff (the boat was just a trial balloon)

I received a lot of responses on all of these, 99% of them obvious attempted scams…

I have friends that swear by Craigslist but every time I’ve used it the same thing happens…

What’s your experience with it…any recomendations…

Thanks for the help..

I have yet to fail selling something on CL. I sold a motorcycle for more than I should have gotten in 47 minutes (got the call 2 minutes after the ad hit)...sometimes it has taken several re-lists to get it sold, but it never fails.

That said, yes, you will get a lot of idiotic scam responses, I guess it just comes with the territory. But for a free ad...i don't think CL can be beat. It's shocking the number of people that watch CL constantly for new postings...

Good luck.

In June, I placed a WantedToBuy Boat, 19 to 22' Donzi, Baja, etc. and got two responses.

I picked up a pristine 1998 22Zx with a 496HO from the ad.

I have had great luck both buying and selling on Craigslist. You run across an idiot now and again but you'll find that anywhere.

I have also had great luck with both buying and selling. Just tune out the scammers and no-shows. Bill

Thanks for the feedback…I’ll rethink/tweak my ads…or maybe I have the same problem Rodney Dangerfield experienced when he said “my problem is that I appeal to everyone who can do me no good what so ever”

I've sold three boats, to motorcycles, and two four wheelers on CL.
