Cool Dog. Love the name (always been a fan of the brothers Mothersbaugh).

For us non-dog educated folks, what kind of dog is he? Where'd you get him? I have the feeling he'll grow to be a pretty big dog.

Very nice looking pup....congratulations...

BTW REDDOG, what happened…my recollection was that you were THE President of the Vestal Donzi Owners Group….was there a coup of some sort and you had to revert to redrawing district lines to retain some power…

Gary, Devo is a Whippet.

Whippets are a mix of Greyhound and Italian Greyhounds with a little Terrier in the mix. They were originally bred in England as the "Poor Man's" racing dog. They are a recognized AKC breed. Hypoallergenic, do 35MPH in a sprint, and have 2 speeds. 35MPH and ZERO. Couch potatoes unless they are running. Great pets that are VERY NON-AGRESSIVE. Below is a link to Whippets Club and the DEVO video from 1980.

The most famous Whippet was Ashley Whippet. He started the frisbee dog craze many years ago.

Knew he looked familiar. A good friend in PA has 2 whippets. Super cool dogs. Good luck with him. If you have a handheld GPS, sounds like a good way to clock him, lol.

That's really a cool idea for when he gets bigger. Maybe I'll gps my shepherd.

I know that a greyhound can cover 5/16 of a mile in 30 to 31 seconds. :)

Nice lookin pup. Buddy of mine had two of them, said they were the most wonderfully lazy couch potatoes in history, and it sounds like that's kinda their nature as a breed.

Greyhounds are on the track for the first race of the evening to be run at 5/16 of a mile, the first half of the daily double. :)

I believe there is a dog track near where you live.

You bet they can be friends. We thought about getting an IG, but Gulf Breeze has so many HAWKS that have been attacking Chihuahuas and other "Toy" breeds, we opted for something a little bigger. We have to keep an eye on Chico when he is outside. His black and white color isn't a tempting as greys or browns to the hawks.
Birds of prey are everywhere here. We had a Bald Eagle land in a Oak tree in our yard back in the spring.

Yeah, we have a Dog Track. It isn't doing well with the economy and the closeness of the Casinos in nearby Mississippi.

DEVO has been eating out of his Frisbee for almost a week. Today was his first time outside with it. He took to it like a duck takes to water. He even brings it back to me! We will work on him catching the Frisbee when he has his permanent teeth!

Not too bad for an 14 week old puppy!

Max's favorite game.. We play at least 5 times a day since he was about 6 months old..

Max has very good form! I love watching dogs "work" at something. I had a Great Dane that was a Frisbee Dog. He was a sight to see jumping to catch it. He just couldn't change direction very well!

I'll do a search for the softer disc. Thanks

See if anyone there carried Rogz brand discs. Soft, kind of gummy, MUCH easier on the mouth than the plastic ones. Also, FWIW, I got Max one of those that you have, supposedly floats.. Well, not exactly.. Eventually, but I actually had to jump in the lake and go get him since he wouldn't come in until it surfaced.. :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

Which of course, it did just as I got to him... :bonk: :bonk:

Damn, looks like some good hang time in pic 3. :cool!:

Barry, looks like you and your new buddy are having a blast. :shades:

Devo is now 28 lbs. Denise took him to his second obedience class last night, he is doing well, but has a crush on a female yellow lab puppy in his class.

See if you can find a Flippy Flopper. No plastic, just rubber and fabric.
and, it floats..The Havanese try to take it away from the Boxer all the time............Ed

Looking good man! Cool to hear he took to the frisbee, it's the only thing that wears Max out..

For 10 minutes :nilly: :nilly:

If you don't find the Rogz one, let me know and I'll send Devo a care package :) :)

I haven't been to our local petsmart to shop yet. I'm not letting him catch the frisbee, he still has those needle sharp puppy teeth! We are only playing fetch and return at this stage of his training. The frisbee he is playing with is an ORKA, which he can chew on without getting it apart. He gnaws on it all the time, except when he is chewing on the coffee table corners! We are enjoying him a lot, he is a real loving puppy. I can't say that the 12 year old Cocker Spaniel and our 12 year old Chihuahua are enjoying him though...:shocking: Poodle, is there a website you know of that I can order the Rogz disc? Ed, a website for the Flippy Flopper? Puppies can never have enough toys...neither can I! I told Denise that its probably a good thing we don't have children...I would be fighting the kids over the toys!
