FS OlDS 455 HO engine taken from wrecked OLDS in the early 70s.
Complete engine!
Never used in a boat!
Has been in my late Uncle's garage with oil in cylinders since 1970's !
This was his spare for his Donzi/ Berkeley waterjet !
These Olds 455 engines were hard to find in the 70s!
Almost impossible to find today!
GM performance 455 HO blocks & heads are very pricey~ If they still have them in their catalog !?
He sold the Donzi Jet years ago~but kept the spare engine!
Here is your chance to get a period correct seasoned OLDS 455 HO auto engine!
Might be usable as stored or as a basis for a build-up.
*** UPDATE 10/29/09 ~ There is now some question in my mind as to the exact year and Horsepower of this Olds 455
Note that it has an EGR Valve !
I am NOT an Olds 455 engine expert !
I know next to nothing about the Olds 455 ~
You must inspect it yourself or let someone who knows 455 engines look at it before buying it! It should be a good rebuildable "core" for a boat as a basis for a build-up or repower !
$3000.00 OBO !
OR...
Find ME a Donzi/ Berkeley Jet Boat to go with this beast!

i will post the Olds 455 engine pad stampings when I return home to my shop in PA.
The engine came from a wrecked Hurst Olds (Remember those?) High Output 455 .
I wish I had that musclecar today!
These HO 455s did not last very long in the junkyards back in their day!
And~ Just try to find one today!
Engine is complete with all tinware Rocker covers, timing cover, oil pan, intake & 4brl carbs, waterpump, fuel pump, flywheel, distributor, Automotive exhaust
No starter (have no idea where it went?)
I will also throw-in a period correct Olds 455 Mallory marine dual point distributor with drive gear!

HERE ARE THE OLDS 455 PHOTOS:
Finally got back from 5 month Summer Vacation in Ocean City NJ !
Dad took the cover out to get these photos !
Note: This engine has an EGR valve !
I do NOT know horsepower or year of this Olds 455 engine!
If I find out~ I will edit this post ASAP!
I am NOT an Olds 455 expert!
First time I have looked at it in 25+ years!
It should be a good scrapyard rebuildable core good for a build-up or marine or auto replacment !
I encourage you to inspect it for yourself before buying to make sure it is what you need & are looking for !
I will try to answer any questions~
BUT remember I am NOT an OLDS 455 expert !
I hope someone can use this engine~
It is just in our way here taking up valuable storage space!
We will never need or use it!
Thank's for looking !

Seems like you have a "blue" motor which I think means 68-69 Toronado based ??? or 70-76. ('74 actually as they say the Rocket named disappeared.

[edit (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Oldsmobile_V8_engine&action=edit&section=20)] 455

A larger big-block was introduced for 1968 as the Rocket 455 at 455 cubic inches (7.5 L) to replace the 425s. It kept the 425's 4.126 in (104.8 mm) bore and bumped the stroke to 4.25 in (108 mm). 1968-1969 455s were painted red, except in the Toronado, where they were painted slate blue metallic, while 1970-1976 versions were metallic blue. The "Rocket" name disappeared from the air cleaner identification decal after 1974. Although production of the 455 ended in 1976, a small number were produced through 1978 for power equipment use. Output ranged from 275 to 400 hp (199 to 298 kW).

Applications:

Oldsmobile Cutlass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Cutlass)
Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Vista_Cruiser) (1970-76)
Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Custom_Cruiser)
Oldsmobile 442 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_442)
Oldsmobile Delta 88 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_88)
Oldsmobile 98 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_98)
1968-1970 Oldsmobile Toronado (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Toronado), 375 hp (280 kW)
1968-1970 Oldsmobile Toronado GT (W34), 400 hp (300 kW)

Lenny & Jim
After finally getting a look at Dad's photos for the first time in 25+ years
of this Olds 455 & seeing the EGR emissions valve & after reading Lenny's post above I would GUESS that this 455 must be in the 1971-1974 range.
Just my GUESS ?
Lenny's info says the Rocket name went away after 1974.
When did they first start using EGR valves on the Olds 455 ? I know Calif. cars are another thing alltogether.
This unit I believe came from PA !
This EGR should be a big clue here!
Does anyone know ?
I do know that after the EPA & Govt. started this emissions stuff the horsepower & performance soon went downhill & big block engines soon went away?
I have no idea of what cam, heads, valves, pistons, crank, etc. are in this 455 !
Nor do I know the miles that were on it!
Over the years I was told by my uncle that it was an "HO" 455 from a Hurst Olds~
I have serious doubts about this now~ But the later Hurst cars were made during this era also.
There should be others looking-in here who should be able to tell us what OLDS 455 Dad has here !
Sadly I doubt it is what BUIZILLA (Jim) has been seeking for 20 years for his musclecar restoration~
I had hoped he might have finally found his engine.
Perhapps he can use some part of it ?
If not~
If you are not looking for a specific date code or matching numbers combo for a car or boat this might just work for you!
The performance internals are still out there from Jegs & Summit etc.
Someone like Axel might just need it for a build-up in a Donzi or a Jet "Squirt" boat!
Axel is now putting a former OLDS 455 jetboat engine in his great 21 project!
Any Berkeley Jet I ever saw "In the Day" was coupled to an Olds 455 for some reason ! ?
Does anyone know why these two were sold together?
I hope the forum experts out there can help us pin down what Dad has here !
It is still an enigma !
