Living on the ocean, bumpy water is the norm and I am always amazed at how well the Donzi 22 handles it, even at speed. It breaks my heart to sell this boat, but we all are bound by practical necessity. I have used it very little as I also am involved in another boat, a 39’ Hatteras Convertible. Boats are like wives and there is only room for one in your life.

This boat has a rebuilt 454 which is set to around 400hp. The engine according to the PO had been rebuilt the 100 hrs ago. Subsequent work on the engine proved this true. I installed a new Elderbrock carb and a Wieland Stealth manifold. The Drive is a TRS, which is a very strong drive and works very well. The #'s on the hull plaque and drive don't match. The drive has a mucher higher #. This and the fact the drive is very solid leads me to belive the original drive was replaced by a later re-built unit, probably when the engine was worked over. The drive was gone through by a Mercruiser mechanic, re-sealed, checked and set-up. The drive is solid, works great, and will give many hours of good service if taken care of. The boat was re-built using a Velvet-Drive 71C modified by a company in Louisiana, Huber. The Huber trans is machined to accept 10 composite lined clutch plate plates instead of the 5 stock brass and steel plates and is rated to 800 hp. The Huber people are good to work with and recommend them. I also got help and advice from professional boat mechanics specializing in Donzi’s in the process and members of this forum. (Buzilla ia a first class guy) They were also very good to work with and helpful.

The trailer is a 1992 Aluminum Float-On. It has the torsion-bar suspension system. It rides better than leaf spring systems I have had before. The trailer is firm, light, and pulls true and straight. I have it set a little heavy on the tongue which I think is better. The trailer has been rebuilt with a Kodiak disc brake kit, stainless rotors, bearings, seals, one new tire, bearing protectors, stainless safety chain, and rewired. The hitch modified and strengthened for the disk brake system. All four tires have been balanced and rims checked for trueness.

She runs a 60-63 depending on what mood she is in and cruises at 40 @ 2,800 rpm. She maxes out at 4,200-4,400 rpm.

The prop is a Stainless 23 pitch. The boat originally had a water ski-wake board towing eye which I removed. The boat comes out of the hole very quick and gets to speed immediately. I think it would be much faster with a different prop.

The boat comes with some spares, starter, ignition module, ski-tow bracket, some gaskets, and all the manuals. . Manuals include:

Mercruiser Service Manual #5 TRS-TR Drive Unit
Mercruiser Service Manual #9 Marine Engines, GM V-8
Elderbock Carb Owners Manual
Titan Model 60 Brake Acuator/Kodiak Disc Brakes Manual
Velvet Drive Marine Transmission Service Manual 71C-72C
Clymer Mercruiser Stern Drive Service Manual (I don’t think it’s too good, that’s why I got the others)

I have 108 photos of the boat on Photobucket at:

2 short videos at (http://video.yahoo.com/watch/5469523/14394351 (http://video.yahoo.com/watch/5469523/14394351)

The interior is original as is the gel coat.

I have both the Title to the Trailer and boat in hand. Georgia does not Title boats or trailers, but issues a Registration-Proof of Ownership card on each. These are to be transferred to the new owner. Tag is current through 4-2010.

Rag... CLASSIC's HAVE (NEVER) been shot with a choper gun!! I worked at Donzi from 85 to 90 and the only chopped boats were the RAGS!!!

My entire family owns 1986 Donzi's and believe me you don't have to make excuses for them! Anyone looking for a older 22 on this site knows "THE BOAT"!!

Good luck

86 TRS with a raised X? I thought that was an alpha setup, not TRS.

Bud... I think you are for sure in the know.
