Hi Tank here with the st Tropez in NJ
I am thinking of your props for my boat I am runing a 14x24 ultra at4300 rpm & 55 MPH I think it should run
4600-5000 rpm & 60 I also have a ron hill 15x21 that will pull 55pmh & 4100 rpm any suggestions?
I know your props are hard to tern I have a good strong volvo 570 270 hp.
Have ever ran your props on a st tropez or Hornnet?

Tank, Which engine do you have? I just found out that I am out of 21 props so I am ordering some today. Now If you can only turn 4100 with the Ron Hill prop then a 21 prop from me will be worse. It may be a 19 is in order. As for props on hornets, I have a couple out there, but they all have more HP then you. The Hornet is heavier then you are and most are on fresh water. I will bet you are on the bay. Are these speedo numbers or GPS speeds?

Hi I tried to send you a privet mail seems your box is full.
You don't seem to talk much about Diameter, Y is that The motor is a stock Volvo 570 270 HP 350 chevy 715 cfm holly are your props 14 X 21 or 15 x21 its the larger OD that kills the rpm I tried a spinle 14 3/4x21 and gained some rpm and speed but had some work don to it I think thay add some cup.
If your props are 15 od I dont think it will work unles I drop to a 19p but I think it would kill the speed.

Tank, I got the notice and cleared it out. The diameter is 15 1/2 but the prop is labeled 15 5/8. As for speed as for the speed, it is difficult to say. I do wish I had a 21 but like I said there gone at this point. If you only turn 43 with the ultra you could not turn one of my 23. The 19 would probably put up at 5,000. and I don't know about the speed. Maybe the hornet guys can chine in here

Tank,
I have a 1972 Hornet 19 with the original Chris Craft Conversion 350 CID 320HP that was installed when built. The outdrive is a Volvo 270. I started with a Solas 19 from Griz. I got alot of bow lift, excellent acceleration but my speed stayed the same at 49 MPH GPS with the boat running 5000 RPM. I bought a 21 Solas from Griz this summer and my RPMs dropped to 4500 RPM and I showed a significant speed increase to 54 MPH on the Speedo (I have not had my GPS to confirm only my Speedo). I can feel that the Hornet is considerable faster with the 21, but a little Squirrely at WOT. I am getting alot of stern walking. Note that I had the tilt pin in the middle hole. I moved it down to the first hole and the bow came down along with a 2 MPH loss in top speed, but a more comfortable ride. I really am pleased with the 21 Solas.

Thanks 72 hornet for the info.
Hi Grizz I think your right on the 21 being good for my boat, I must say the 15 1/2 scars me.
Sorry for the late ripply but my home comp. has a nasty bug and is out for now.

that is the only report I have heard of a solas being a little squirrely. I did see a 21 on an old volvo 200 that got loose but the 19 on the same drive didn't . but again this is the first time I have heard of a solas on a 19 degree deadrise hornet all the hulls I ran the solas on were 24 degree rounded keels short inner strake and the were very stable

72 what were you running before the solas??

Hi Mattyboy

like I found with my ron hill.
Ha is the 72 hornet 19 or 21 ft long?

I was out last weekend in Barniget bay and the ultra was way to much ran the hill it was better but need something ells.
Got to get a hub in the 22 ultra.
