Whyle doing a coupler on a customers boat the customer asked me to change the oil whyle it was getting repaired..so i pulled the oil plug and water and oil came out, so i pressurized the engine on the lol garden hose and saw more water come out of the oil plug...Called the customer and asked who winterized it and he said he did why? so i explained to him what i found so i got the ok to di the tear down and found that the botton of the intake was cracked from freezing.
all late model vortechs have a water passage that goes 3/4 of the way under the intake almost to the rear by the water passages in the heads and has no way to drain so when you do the winterizing make sure you run antifreeze through the engine..or pull the plug located on the front of the intake under the thermostat housing with the nose of the boat cranked all the way down to let the water escape..
