Anyone know, shot in the dark, the fuel capacity of a 1986 Hornet III?

I just got the ship in the water, ran it for 60 minutes, with the gauge not moving off 3/4..I filled it and took 148 litres, or 39.1 U.S. gallons...how close was i to empty?

next on the list, investigate the gauge issue...stuck float?

The last two digits of the tank # is the capacity. The one I just had built by FMT was a DZ-60. So it holds 60 gal.

My Hornet II holds about 50 gallons and doesn't move quick off the full mark; however, when it gets down to 1/4 of a tank, there better be a gas station around because it drops pretty quick(probably less than 5 miles worth). Few months ago I learned the hard way!!

According to my '85-'86 catalog....42 gal.

I have a 1984 Hornet III and it holds approx 40 gals.

Here is a formula though: L x W x H in inches divided by 260 = Gallons

Wouldn't that only work if the tank was a square or rectangle? Most tanks have curves to'em

I was going to suggest that it's the same RDS tank used on the 18 and Minx....

But as you can see, the bottom has a greater deadrise than the Hornet has.
Of course mounting in foam could make up any differences.
This is a 41 gallon tank.

Zekester, I called McNabb today and he verified the tank holds 60 gal US or 227 litres. This info was printed on the tag on the tank. 1984 Hornet III.
