An old associate of mine, would enthrall us with stories of being dropped down the exhaust stack of a super tanker to inspect the headers and exhaust valves with a flash light: Pistons, the diameter of coffee tables and rings so large you could use them as hoola-hoops. :D

Yeh Dude! I've seen some pistons that you could slide that piston into. VERY LARGE. I've seen crankshafts being built that were approximately 60' in length. The pistons I saw were in storage onboard a cruise liner when shipchecking power plant options for the Navy. I'll see if I can dig up some pics and post them.
