nice day on the bay

Since some of you foolishly think the 'west coast' means the west side of Florida, I thought I'd share some pics from the 'real' west coast. :wink:

Had a very nice day out, only 10-15 mph wind under the bridge and a little fog, but otherwise sunny and calm, about 80 degrees in Oakland, 75 on the bay, 65 under the GG bridge.

I have a 69 Marquis getting ready to leave for Cabo in a couple weeks, so I took it out for a little shake-down run this afternoon. This is the good part of the job!


First, some scenes from the city.

Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge ... sorry for the fog but it is summer!

No Donzi's spotted, but I did see a couple tourist boats including the new 'rocket boat'. Not sure how fast it is, but I topped out at 30 knots and he was faster than me.

The Duck Boat on the other hand wasn't setting any speed records.

An interesting tall ship - usually these guys travel as a group, but this one from Mexico was alone. I haven't been watching TV or listening to the radio lately so I don't know if there's something planned for her.

A few scenes as we return home to the Oakland Estuary, including Jack London Square (just down from my office a couple blocks), the 'houseboats' in Alameda, and the Potomic, LBJ(?)'s presidential yacht.

Lastly, a shot of one of Matson's ships being loaded. Scary looking, but they do this regularly.
