Would the stock 302 HM have a 351 cam and heads? I am trying to figure out if this Donzi is all stock and original. Any ideas? The firing order is not the same as the 289 or standard 302.
Thank you, George

There were two common firing orders stock (15426378) and HO (13726548) the Ho was used on both 302 & 351 depending on how it was set up. If you have the second firing order it is an HO, 351 heads will fit a 302 but must be milled quite a bit to have any decent compression.

Not shure about the cam but 351W big valve heads were used on Mercury Marine 302s untill a much later date than in cars. So H&M could have done the same. In the Merc engines the holes for the head bolts will be drilled half the depth for 1/2" bolt and the other half for 7/16. This drilling might indacate the heads were dedicated for use on a 302 marine aplication.

H&M was a hodg podg in the 302 area nothing is consistent even the firing order. It was originally a harmonic thing that originated with the cars and found later to be not necessary and mainly with the 351 windsor. I was really into it at that period of time. The real H&M totally different engine was the Cleveland with speciqal intakes and special heads some with big ports and small valves, which ended up to being backwards later in the evolution. Chances are the heads are replacement, check the push rod holes to see if they are long and narrow as opposed to round.
