Give us an update on your meeting today... A point that might be useful is that 30 mph is too slow for waterskiing other than tricks... jumping and slalom both require higher speeds and the speeds are standardized by the American Water Ski Association, ie., they do not feel >30 mph is too fast.

Thank you Dave P. for fighting the good fight to preserve our freedoms. It surely is something to celebrate. When the celebrating is done, however, we need to get back to work and regain the ground that was lost when the PWC enthusiasts lost their freedom to engage in their chosen recreation in the national parks.
I personally don't like PWCs. They are an annoyance to "normal" boaters in several ways. They're noisy and are usually driven in a way that can be described as irresponsible at best, and reckless at worst. But I've always felt defensive of their right to be stupid and annoying. When they were targeted for bannishment from the national parks, I knew it was only a first step and that they'd be coming after us next.
If we're to promote safety education as an alternative to regulation, I think we should take an inclusive approach and welcome the PWC crowd to our ranks. "Strength in numbers" and all that. And if you can't find any other redeeming qualities about them, they are, at the very least, the proverbial "canaries in our coal mine". Just some more food for thought.
