View Full Version : 22 Zx 496 HO Seawater Pump - Valve?

There appears to be a solenoid valve inline ahead of the pump. Is this active anytime the ignition is on, and is this standard? I am going to stand on my head and replace the impeller (hopefully) tomorrow.

That's the water drain actuator. It's not electric. It uses air pressure.

I just swapped out two impellers last week on my Sonic 31SS. It's not fun, but not that difficult either. Pull the seawater pump completely out. Just unbolt the idler pulley assembly and remove. I didn't have enough slack in the hoses to pull the pump off the studs, so I just removed the studs with a couple of jam nuts. Then it just drops down and you can remove the hose clamps. Take it to a workbench and open it up.

I thought about taking it in, but I have the ability, I am trying to come up with the desire.....
I bought a Harley 14 years ago and had no desire to wrench on it. After dealing with the dealers, I had no choice. The last service, they forgot to tighten the bolts on the front brake caliber... It fell off, the response from the dealer what the tech had a bad day......
So did I
