Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself first; this is only my second post on the board. My name is Sam and I live in southern California. I have been in the market for a clean 18 near me for a couple of months, and want to solicit the experts' opinions here. I apologize in advance for the length of this post.

I have attached pictures of the only local boat I have found so far, a 1987 fresh water Special Edition, "350 Chevy, 270 HP, Alpha OD, Stereo, SS Prop, Excellent Condition". I am not such a fan of the 80's gauges, wheel, and shifter, or even the color combo but whatever. The owner was asking 14,500 but pulled that number out of thin air, and I would offer him much less if the boat is clean. He says the paint on the hull is faded, but everything else is fine... we'll see.

In scanning through the forums, I found this link:

It is the same exact boat, except evidently in better condition. It is still for sale on craigslist for 15k... anyone know if he is flexible? There is also this other one but it is even farther away:

Also, here are all of the reasonable listing's for other classic 18's in the USA:

1987 yellow in similar condition to the one I am considering 11,000

1988 total restoration at cost of 35k is listed at 19,900

NADA for the boat in question says price is about 4,000. but that seems way too low for what I have seen others going for.

In this current market, which boat should I be going for and what is a fair price? Thanks to everyone in advance for the help!
