Im looking for a stainless steel prop for the 1972 eighteen classic i just bought. I am now a proud owner of a Donzi but i need a SS prop to hang on it. Right now i have a 21 and 23 but they need to be stainless. i would like a 23ish prop. Let me know what you have.
Thanks Dave

I have one of Grizz's 21 SOLAS LH props just north of you. Used twice. SS and all. I am in Victoria. Yes, it is for sale. I also have a 4 blade cleaver for that drive. I am using these on a 280. Believe me, a 21 in this prop is a LOT of prop for your boat. They BITE and push a LOT of water. You will be surprised where your revs will be. Mine went down about a 800-900 from a different SS 24".

Are you looking for left or right hand rotation?

I guess based on it being a '72 I assumed a LH prop.

thanks for you help. i havnt looked at the rotation yet but i will tonight. The boat has a pleasure craft marine engine that was installed in the late 90's. It only has 65 hours on it and according to the code its a 260 horsepower version. For max speed a 23 pitch is the way to go from my understanding...?

the prop is a LH rotation.

did the volvo 270 have tilt or trim? if it had trim what part needs to be worked on if it acts like only a tilt system? because it will tilt at an idle or in nuetral but when you begin to give it any power it thumps down.

also does anyone know is the thrust/exhaust fin replacment are still available?

with the rehubbed merc props do i still run the cone and thrust washer?

The 270 did come in a trim version (270T) but aren't to many around. if you have hydrualic rams on the drive you have trim, if not it is tilt only. the tilt is only for use in trailering the boat or at very very slow speeds.
There are two prop shaft lenghts, short and long. I have the long shaft version and I only have to use the cone nut for all my props, rehubbed merc, solas, Hill thrasher, etc. Matty knows more about prop compatability and prop shaft lengths.

I have a 270 with no trim, but I do have power steering - I want to put the electric motor back in, as there seems to space to do so - Or, does anyone have any ideas on how I can make the 270 trim - the manual says it is only for trimming at idle, and for lifting the outdrive.

BTW, reading the above, the 270 can be changed from LH to RH, by removing plate and pulling the cotter pins and shifting the vertical stem from the right side to the left side.

the normal jack screw tilt motor will only hold the drive up at idle once you put power to it it will force the drive back down plus if you tilt it enough to disengage the reverse lock you're gonna get the back of the boat wet when backing up
