I have a single axel 2001 magic tilt trailer ALS 1931 with a net capacity rating of 3000 lbs and after towing it 1200 miles I see that both tires are showing excessive wear--almost bald, on the inside of both tires. Viewing the trailer from the front the tires are clearly toed in thus wearing out the inside on both tires in 1,200 miles. Any experience out there? Worst case the trailer may be overloaded or best case assuming the (original) tires are properly mounted and there is no rim problem the trailer may not be aligned properly. Can trailer tires be aligned?

What boat are you towing? My 22 came on a single, did swap to a dualie.

sounds like torsion axles. I hate them.

I think the 18 weighs close to 3000 dry, plus you have gas, gear, etc. and you are probably right at 3000 pounds. When torsion axles get above, I'd say, 80% of their capacity rating they do what you describe.

The only good way to fix it is to get bigger axles.

Usually alignment is not an issue with single axle, but you can check that with a tape measure to be sure. the wear is usually not only on the inside with alignment issues anyway.

Take it to the closest cat scale at a truck stop unhook it from the truck and weigh it for $10.00 you will know for sure. Don't forget about 10% of your weight goes on the back of your truck so you can deduct that off your total weight.

I put a tape on mine and there is extremely little toe in. Yours are toed out, I would be checking the axle inserts they may be worn or the axle ends may be bent. Don't let anyone bad mouth torsion axles, I have thousands of miles on spring axle trailers both boat and dump trailers they are far more troulble some and will you down at the worst times.
