Does anyone have any experience with the 357 Mag bobtails sold on ebay? I'm looking for a low cost replacement for a 1999 350 Mag with a cracked block.

there are cheaper engines out there, but it does have a merc warranty. I have been eyeballing that one and the 383

Don't let the ads fool you, they are rebuilt engines NOT brand new ones. IMO They use some pretty good marketing to make them seem new. It doesn't bother me too much just thought you should know

Thanks for the info, do you know if the 357 will work with an Alpha Gen II? or am I asking for trouble?

thanks,

it's only 325HP. it will be fine with the Alpha... Although, I wouldn't go 'testing' it with crazy airborne moves at full throttle:nilly:

The 383 give you more options in the future, get a price on either from the Harbor Master. He works for a big dealer down in Texas.

------Hyper,,,Since you only cracked the block, why buy anything but that. Just as there are a bunch of crate motors there are also a bunch of crate prepared short-blocks (pick your cubic inch). Just do a quick refresh on the heads and pop it together. You will save big time.........Bill S
