Folks, I do not know if any of you are looking, BUT, June 9th (apparently) the Dodge/Chrysler dealers that have been cut ( in the USA ) are OUT. The Inventory (if not sold) does not go back to Chrylser/Dodge.
So, there are some incredible deals right now out there. We have been ( a wealthy friend, not me) looking at the "Blowout prices" available and seriously, Cummins 1 ton duallys at HALF PRICE.

Have you folks been watching this? A local here has a scout in Cali and it is pretty insane.

Stock not sold by June 9th apparently becomes the asset/debt of the Dealership owner and without going chapter 11, he/she owns it and the debt for its' repayment. The banks are not that keen on lending to a Dealership, that is no longer, and is not Legally allowed to sell it after that date as a Dealership nor support it. Other Dealerships that have survived are leary of the additional stock on a bargain basement buy-up.

That is my take on it. Anyways, an aquaintance here just turned in his two 1 ton dually LEASES, paid the penalty, and bought NEW outright for one of his Companies.

Food for thought

We have 9 defunct Dealerships within 4 hours of here in the USA.

We have a dealer in Rhode Island (Tarbox Jeep-Chrysler) that is Third Generation. He has two dealerships..one in RI and another in Mass. This dealer is supposedly 14th in the Nation in sales. The owner says he is "doing just fine". He sells SIX times as many vehicles as Chrysler requires him to sell.

HE is on the Shut Down LIST. He went to DC last week to talk to the RI "Congressional Delegation" to try and find out WHY. He got NO answers. He was on local Talk Radio last week when he got back from DC. Still NO ANSWERS why a Successful dealer is being SHUT Down. :bonk: John

-------While in Indianapolis two weeks ago I heard a Chrysler dealer add on the radio for those little front wheel drive convertibles. Dealer was advertising half off of LIST. About a $30,000 car for $15,000 off the showroom floor. Talking to some of my dealer buddies the deals are only going to get better. This puts the dealers that are left in an odd situation for awhile as no one is darkening the doorsteps of the dealers who havent lost their license to sell. Pretty much everyone agrees that this program (mandated by our government) has been handled very badly............Bill S

There are some indications being investigated that show that the dealerships being kept open are owned by big contributors to the DNC / Obama. The closures are directed by Obama's auto task force and NOT by Chrysler.

Thanks RedDog--I was asking myself "who decides who stays and who goes?" and got to your post. I'll keep my eye on this one too.

But in general, I want to know how ANYONE gets to decide what dealers go bankrupt with their lifelong businesses and what dealers stay. If you're a dealer and you go bankrupt, you're out. If not, unless your contract says Chrysler gets to yank your license at any time at THEIR discretion, and you have to EAT all your current inventory, WTF? Any why would the govt folks get to do it. I'd be insisting on a bankruptcy court judge.

As an aside, I've been waiting for something to go into court from all this extralegal monkeying around that the feds have been doing. I thought maybe some banks would put a case together. Next I was wondering about the Chryser bondholders, especially since the state of Indiana apparently got clobbered holding bonds that basically got passed over in favor of handing cash to the UAW. But the feds will probably just pay Indiana's pols off with OPM in the backroom to stay on the sidelines if they raise enough stink. But I bet if there are shenanigans in the dealer live/die selections, some of those guys will put up a fight in court.

there was a radio comment the other day that none of the closing dealerships were black owned.... I never considered that thought, but it would be interesting to find out if it was true... the largest CJ store down here, perhaps the LARGEST Hispanic owned CJ store in the USA, got canned too.... as did 6 Auto Nation stores

Does anyone know of a dealer in the South East that is running the blow out deals?

I wouldn't mind a cummins Mega Cab, Charger, or could be talked into something else if the price is right. 150k on the Town Car, not a bad time to look at least.

I wonder if the GM dealers will do a similar blowout once they get notice...

While I wouldn't put it past this administration to stoop so low, I need to see some financial evidence that supports these dealers staying open. Being tops in sales isn't enough. If all of their business is done with factory credit, not just inventory floorplan but parts too, then I'd bet they shoot to the top of the closure list.

I wonder if the closure criteria could fall under Freedom of Information Act?

Yep, it probably would fall under that. But you have to stand behind the folks waiting to see Obama's BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!

Guess that "transparency" talk didn't last too long, eh? :boggled:

The GM dealers got there notice already, they are not aloud to talk about it to anyone. GM didn't say your closed we'll give you 30 days. They were put on a notice like: You need to do this, this and this by such and such date, some dealers have a year some have more or less. they were all told that "no comment" better be the answer to anyone asking questions about which dealers are getting canned.

I would think that these Chrysler dealers have some kind of recourse on Chrysler or the government if they picked who went out, to at least buy them out of the inventory, i do know that the dealer agreement is in the factory's favor though.

The dealers that are floorplanned through Chrysler were higher on the list than dealers that get there money elswhere. The other part of the decision from what i heard was not only production and units sold, but in order for the factory to regroup and get back on track there laying off tons of factory workers and wouldn't be able to supply cars to all their dealers anyway, so that was a big reason they closed so many dealers.

Who knows how they really made the decision, maybe it was over a bottle of Jack Daniels and a dart board with names on it(let's face it the obama administration was invovled)

I noticed that Charlie Christ didn't mind passing a 52 BILLION dollar budget without my approval. There is a message from me up at the Div of Hwy Safety and Motor Vehicles from me left today up in Tallahassee. I don't know if you know who Kelly Joy is, but apparently she doesn't have to answer to her constituents either, not to metion the staffer that works for my state rep, Pat Patterson is off today. You'd think SOMEONE that works for the state would take a break from spending our tax dollars with impunity, would be working today.:mad::mad:
Update: Just as I was posting this my phone rang. It was a lady I had spoken to before. She remembered me. I have that effect on people. Very few people forget me for one of two reasons: Either I'm very, very nice, or very, very not nice. See if you can guess why she remembered me. At least she was reasonable, and saw it MY WAY!
