Robert,

Good luck with your sale.

And thanks for the tip on moving the tab switch. I installed an additional switch and made it my drive switch. And dedicated my tilt/trim switch on the throttle to operate both of my tabs. It works good. I just need to some good weather to run it.

This boat is awesome. If I didn't have the kids I'd be on it, it's a dream for now though. Whoever buys it, get lessons from gero on how to drive it... he can run this boat, period.

This may be a stupid question to some of you pros but, What is the difference between a Black Hawk and a 22 Classic?

A Blackhawk is an Odd Ball Dual Prop Surface Piercing drive that Merc made for awhile and Donzi put it on a few 22 Classics with a modified bottom to accommodate the drive. The drive is quite fast and also quite "squirrelly" from what I've heard. Takes A LOT of "seat time" to master. Not for a beginner. John

Anyone who is a fan of the Bandit, has a passion for Black Trans Ams, needs to have this boat as a part of their collection! This is a beautiful boat for those of you looking and has been very well maintained by Robert. This is a pretty rare boat as well, and possibly the feature boat for next year's AOTH (maybe?).

best handling, and well-tuned BHLE I have ever been in and driven, right here.
Anybody flirting with a blackhawk should take a hard look at this, drive it, then buy it.
Nuff said.
Good Luck with the Sale..What are you thinking of for your next boat?

Not sure I agree with all of your statements... "odd ball"??? This was probably the coolest drive ever built by Mercury Marine and absolutely perfect for a FAST single engine application...nothing "odd" about it in my humble opinion. it was also used in several twin engine boats, most noteably the P29 Wellcraft Scarab.

that the bottom of the 22 was modified for the Blackhawk is news to me, although I wouldnt be surprised if it was...many donzi bottoms have been modified to take the hook out...

As for the handling, this is probably the best handling drive out there if you're going to go fast. I've been on a 20 Cigarette with a blackhawk at 103mph and it was on rails....but i will say, any time you plan to run past the century mark, you better have some seat time; as running that fast ain't for the beginner.

Very nice boat. I went to the Annapolis, Md boat show in 1995 and saw a Black Hawk on display. Fell in love with it. I also had a 77 Pontiac Trans Am as someone mentioned. Good luck with sale.

His mistake. I drove one of these with a Bravo Drive on it after the owner blew the Blackhawk and it felt like the thing had an anchor out back, not to mention a rolling motion that could not be sorted out with tabs or trim. Not good. This hull was designed to be run with a Blackhawk drive.

dauley don't worry about anything todd says, he can't drive a black hawk regardless what kind of drive is on it...unless you want to bounce all the way down the lake

DAULEY

the boat truly was more user friendly and only lost about 5 to 7 mph easyer to dock and steer
and i didnt have to worry about my daughter and grand kids out having fun
in my eyes the bh boats need hydo external steering to be safe and alot of seat time i took me aleast 30hrs to get use. to it not a boat you throw the keys to a newby and say have fun.

Robert, your boat has been for sale for over a year. So a simple question for you. Do you think this kind of post enhances your chances of selling to someone that doesn’t know you or the boat? Think of the guy that Googles “Donzi” and lands on this childish nonsense? But it is your ad, so feel free to do what you please, no one is stopping you here.

As for criticizing my driving, up until last season when I did my re-rig, your boat and mine were confirmed to be even on the GPS speedo or about 80. I don’t think I remember seeing you go by me, so I think I know what I am doing behind the wheel of a Donzi.

As for driving your boat for a couple of minutes, of course I am not going to be as smooth as someone who has spent hours behind the wheel. I do remember you apologizing to me for the odd hop and such, just about every time I rode with you in it, so you had your opportunties keeping this thing under control, too.

So, I do stand by what I said about the Bravo conversion. It simply did not feel right for a Blackhawk boat. Your boat has the drive and steering too boot, which I agree this boat absolutely needs. So instead of shooting at me, why don’t you focus on selling the attributes of your boat.

Better use of your time and good luck.

Sweet little 16
