I've seen this boat for sale before. I'm not sure if it was on here or on ebay, but I remember it because I fell in love with it imediately. I don't remember it being an '80 model, but either way it looks to be all original. I would say that $15k is a deal. No bargain, but she's worth it.

Yeah, I know. I said that I don't know about it being an '80 model, but I still like it. And minus a few things (like the big block), it looks to be all original. I would tend to agree that the port steering is enough to signal an early to mid '70's model.

Best I can tell the hull number on the sticker reads

DMR186820180

I owned DMR186471178.

It was a Mercruiser Alpha boat with starboard steering. It had the same gauge cluster with the same Teleflex gauges, and the same grab bar in front of the passenger seat.

I don't know how many 18s they were making a year during this time frame, but the boats are only 35 hulls apart. Mine looks to have been a late 78, and this an early 80, so it COULD be right.

Strange about the Volvo/Port steering. Special Order?

A very nice boat, either way, and looks to be in great shape.

FWIW, it looks to me like the trailer plate is TX (which might be consistent with the story I suppose), and the tow vehicle at least looks like an IL tag, of this style. Like I said, FWIW. Doesn't mean it isn't a scam, just trying to add info.

Seen it for sale before also. Guy always says he spent 3000.00 having the drive checked out. Pricey drive check. For 10,000.00, I will check his engine.:bonk: For another 5000.00, I bet Lenny would check the hull.......

------My good pal Bob Sindelar lives in St.Charles and would probably be happy to take a lookey. Bob bought my old 22 Classic and can definetly tell a good boat from bad. Boat does look pretty nice, but whats up with that aluminum prop??? It almost looks like he didnt change props when he changed engines. Speaking of engine changes, this one looks fairly sanitary. By the way the add says the drive was "gone thru and checked out" for $3000 not just "checked out". Still a decent amount of coin.......Bill S

I posted this boat a while back. Also chatted with the owner via ebay, seemed to be a straight shooter. Not a scam anyway:
