So who know's the in's and out's of H/M I/O's? I thought I did with 3 H/M set ups. The Donzi is COMPLETELY different.
2 pics of H/M set ups the first is the 7 meter,1970, the second is Allmand and Monza 1972 . the donzi has two non sealed bearings and the other"s have ONE sealed bearing. Intermediate H/M is TOTALLY different.

I just tore all this a part and rebuilt it on my 1968 Magnum with 350 SBC engines.
The set up I have has an intermesiate shaft with 2 lip seals and two bearings and was supposed to run with gear oil as lubricant. This I rebuilt with two sealed bearings, eliminating the lip seals and the gear oil.
Bearings are a standard size, I bought mine from McMaster Carr, online. Thius after trying to get somme support from several Volvo marine wholesalers.
Volvo did not publish part numbers for some of the early years, I acquired asn early parts list and diagrams through Marysville Marine, but in the end acquired all my hard parts, bearings, snap rings from local suppliers or McMaster. Many parts come in kits that fit numerous models, like seals, but nothing for these intemediate shafts.
It's easy to take apart! If you have questions, just post them here.

Donzi is fixed, today Did the sealed bearings mod. as prev. mentioned. What a pain in the arse! I like the "other setup" better. Also they both have the same length between transom and block and look identical on the outside.
