That happened a few years ago, I think down in Fla while being unloaded. Another one of those "FORGOT TO CHECK" the gear things!

Sorry, I've been away from the board on vacation up in BC.

The pictures in the first post are real, but the text is a bit off.

As a Marquis dealer, when those pics first started going around on the net we got a memo from the factory telling us the details. It's been a couple years, but as I remember it was a 55' Marquis sold in the middle-east somewhere. It was pre-sold and it was being off-loaded from the ship that brought it in (Marquis is part of Carver, based just outside Green Bay). The men on the boat work for the local dealer and were unhurt. The harbor is fairly shallow, and I believe she struck bottom before ending up floating upside down. FWIW, the boat would have been worth something around $1.5M US at that time, not the $4.5M reported. The buyer was present when it happened - but apparently not too put off as he soon thereafter ordered a 65 Marquis to replace this one.

I read it was a Sunseeker being offloaded in LA when the crane bent. Who knows, I wasn't there. :)

Cuda, I think you're on the money on the Sunseaker. About 2 years ago as I recall.

I heard that one got kinda ugly on the pay-out with everybody blaming the other guy.
