Looking to install an oil temp gauge in my 22C.

The engine is a 454 MPI. I realize the best place is the pan, but I am not in the mood to drill a hole in the pan and weld in a bung so my question is,
where else on this motor can I screw in a fitting to get the gauge to give me some sort of feedback?

Just duct tape the sender to the side of the oil pan. If that doesnt work, try bailing wire.

look at your oil filter mount, see if there is a fitting there for it.

i just installed one - on hose from oil cooler to engine block - lowes will sell a 3/8 t piece which is all female. you will need a close male adapter for the engine block. worked great.

My Gen V 454 (1995) came stock with a bung welded to the starboard side of the oil pan.

Same fittings, just the other hose...

I think you want to get the temp here too, after it comes out of the filter. Put one on my 502 mpi 2 yrs ago and was glad I did, temp started creeping up to the 230deg. area and never would have known w/o the guage.
