Why couldn't this be a reworked 1979 X-18?
Don't know what advantage there would be to hinging the engine hatch on the side rather than back.

N20, I saw that one and wondered myself what the hell it was. I think it is a splash. Not a Donzi.

Couple of things that jumped out- I think all X's were made with left hand drives, but I could be wrong. Of course, the side opening hatch, no thru-hull exhuast. All of this could have been custom and it could be an X, but something about it just doesn't look right to be a Donzi to me.

guys I said it wasn't a 19 ( hornet) I DID NOT SAY IT WAS NOT A DONZI X 18

looks very much like the factory hatch and scoop and I believe they did make rh trs X boats the no thru hull could have been a special order or when they changed the power plant and drive they re did the transom

and I get blamed for being negative

right hand helm X 18 trs boat look at this boat and tell me why the hatch would open to the side ????? please noticed the cut out in the deck for the exhaust risers . the all yellow boat probably had the hatch re worked after the 5.7 went in with the center risers ,in sam's boat the old logs can still be seen and why the cut outs were needed

Is someone a little touchy? I was just saying I thought it looked like an X-18. His ad said it was a 19' Donzi. It didn't say anything about being a Hornet.

rand hand helm X 18 trs boat look this that boat

You lost me here.

N20, I think that one was directed at me. Matty knows I like to bitch about Donzi ads, especailly speed claims. I am trying to be better about the speed stuff, as everyone seems to slap 5-10 mph on the top speed of thier boats, but I do get irritated when someone tried to sell a splash or something that does not look remotly like a Donzi.

Matty knows I am trying to be better and is rightly keeping me in line.

Be funny if it was directed at you and who knows but Matty.......

Now, if it is a Donzi, sweet, another X surfaces. If not, then seller be ashamed and buyer be ware.

I'll paint my X-18 yella, throw it in a gravel pit in Peoria, IL (where is that?) and sell it for $7950 any day- and I will guarantee 55 mph out of it!:rlol: I'm having trouble getting $7k for it, almost original, sitting in one of the top retirement cities in North America. It must be that left hand drive thing! Anyone have a sawzall?

Well, Apollo, he ain't got a bid yet, so I wouldn't get the sawzall out just yet.....

I will say the EFI engine could add a few bucks....

anyone have a RH helm trs X 18??? anyone have a hatch on an X 18 that opens from the side cause the bump outs in the hatch would hit the deck before the hatch would open all the way???

or maybe i am just making it up as i go along ;)

trust me i 'll stop making jokes that go over everyone's head

------The big-block TRS/330 X18 that I bought new in 1979 (a leftover 78) had the side-opening hatch but I do not remember those exhaust lumps on the hatch at all. I dont think I would have bought the boat if those ugly things were on there. Exhaust manifolds were stock rear outlet and there was a small scoop that wasnt opened up for AC clearance. I have no explanation for any of this and, unfortunatly, no pics of the boat to look at. My memory sucks but not enough to forget those!!!..........Bill S

MP,

I am not sure, bad advice from a friend??? so the change in drive could explain the lack of thru hull looks like it might have sold or the auction was ended
