Guy tells me it's a 67/68/69? 16 footer. 225 on the back with a jack plate. Told me it's a Maltese, I'm guessing it's a Missile. I asked if it was a small V, thinking it's a Marauder, but he said the front is square.

Hopefully it'll be worth the trip.

Doesn't a 225 sound insane on a 16 footer?

I'll bring a camera with me.

A Missile is one of those boats I'd like to own, just once.:biggrin.:

A friend had one with an XS 150 Mercury (Tower of Power). It felt under powered. The boat felt heavy, and I don't think he ever figured out the prop thing, because it ALWAYs bounced at 75%+ throttle. It behaved like the prop couldn't sustain the amount of thrust needed to keep the bow up.

This was the Magnum tunnel and it ran around 60, which didn't seem fast enough to pack enough air in the tunnel to get it aired out properly. It must have just been set up poorly, or each hull was full of water.

I always thought it was odd, because there was a 16' Baja on the lake with the same engine that ran 75+ mph, and it was a V-bottom.

I had a small magnum with a 150ss on it.. My father's freinds also had them.. They were pretty cool little boats. Mine was a full tunnel with front to back seating.. Good luck on the quest.. :) Jamie

That pic of the Missile and Classic azz to azz on a tandem trailer just cracks me up every time I see it.

Something tells me they were tied down better than most boats you would see at the ramp on a holiday weekend though.:pimp:

The boat felt heavy, and I don't think he ever figured out the prop thing, because it ALWAYs bounced at 75%+ throttle. It behaved like the prop couldn't sustain the amount of thrust needed to keep the bow up. most setups back then tried using 2 blades, some used 3... the slight cutdown transom notch you see in the black boat pic's helped, which put the bullet center even with the bottom sponsons..... we thought we had it figured out, until we blew it over backwards one day...

That pic looks like my old mag, but mine was red with a black interior.. It also had a 2 blade seebold wheel on it. :) J
