After 5 years with BFG A/T on my F250, I decided to go for more of a street tire but still wanted the M/S rating and E-rated AND in 285's, which isn't easy to come by in E-rated. I went with Nitto DuraGrapplers. I am extremely pleased with the wear and the ride, super quiet. I think they'd be great on an SUV. I am especially happy with the performance in the rain.

Matty,

On my Yukon XL and 2500 Saburban I have over 90k Miles on the LTX/ms tires.

Another vote for the LTX's, both of my Subs are two wheel drive both have the LTXs. They are quite, great in any kind of weather even surprisingly good in snow & ice.

I just replaced a set of the LTXs which I also really liked with a set of Toyo Open Country tires which seem to have a little better rain traction. Although I liked the LTXs, I saved $150 on the Toyo 70,000 mile tires. Bill

NO comparison between Cooper (discount brand) and Michelin (premium brand).
Sure, they each make a lot of models but I'd go Michelin any day over Cooper. (and I have an axe to grind AGAINST Michelin after a certain F1 debacle I sat through at Indy a few years ago...)
Granted, on an SUV it's not exactly like you need the absolute best as you're not going to notice small differences, but I'd expect the Michelins to balance out better and run truer.
Now, take this for what it's worth. I don't own a vehicle that would use the type of tires you're looking for. My brother recently went with a set of the Toyo Open Countries with good success on his pickup (no off-road work, but lots of snow and ice driving). My personal truck has crappy Nitto 285-45-22 'performance' tires that the dealer happened to have on it when I bought it.
BTW, they suck.

When I did the Navigator I found that it was cheaper to buy a full set of wheels and tires off of eBay.

something worth checking at least... it depends on the factory tire size, etc. but there are a lot of people that take brand new wheels and tires off of brand new vehicles to go bigger. Mine had the nubs on the tread still, were mounted and balanced and even have tire sensors in them.
