I dont know if this is the correct place to post this, feel free to move if need be. I am restoring the floor under my console as it rotted out. I plan on pulling the cap to address the whole floor. Has anyone had an experience pulling this type of cap and can anyone tell me if i need to pull the outboards off first or can i remove the cap without removing the splashwell? thanks in advance.

Where are you in Florida. I have a 1989 Z-33. I have done extensive work on my fiberglass stringers and gussets and floors, etc etc. These boats have similar problems. You can call me if you like and I will tell you what I know. I live in Tampa bay area and travel to all parts of South Florida all the time. I have often twyed witht he idea of pulling the cap on my Z-33. I would love to see yours when you take it off. I figure that it weighs about 800 or 900 lbs; so, it will have to be supported well to take it off, then supported when you put it on the gournd. My guess is that putting it upside down is the way to go.

Very interesting project.

I live in winter garden FL and the boat is in clermont. About an hour east of you. I plan on building two a frames and pulling on it from 6 points, two in the middle, two in the rear and two in the front. then when i pull the boat out from under it i will go ahead and lower one side to flip it. I will surely let you know when this happens.
