Just thinking, is there a difference in strength in a standard Bravo 1 upper between the different gear sets? IE, is one set stronger than another 1.65/1.5/1.36? Or are they pretty much all the same when it comes to strength? Steve

I was told when I had my 1:36 changed out for 1:50 that they were the same other than ratio, having said that, I wonder if different manufacturers would make a difference...?

There is more gear contact surface in a 1:36 than a 1:50 which makes it a tad stronger, but a 1:50 is a faster drive due to the fact that a slower turning prop is more efficient.

So, a 1:50 prolly is a little stronger than a 1:65? I have 1:65 and am turning a big prop and like it but am worried if it will last if I add HP.

Steve, you have nothing to worry about....

Ted its just a standard bravo 1 not an XR planning in the neighborhhod of around 475 HP give or take. I'm sure I'm okay now with the current set-up but thinking for later.

With the increase in HP, and the fact you will need to spin yet an even bigger prop, the load on acceleration will be more on the drive. So at that point it is prop time again and may prove to be more advantageous to go to a 1:5 ratio so more props are more readily available. After 30 pitch your options dwindle. As for strength yes the 1:50 is stronger, but unless you changed your driving style you probably won't have an issue. Your not an abusive driver and you check your options before you commit to a course.

If you need them Steve, I have a complete set of 1:36 gears, to you they would be inexpensive...........

Thanks Grizz for the complements, and Jermery I don't think I need 1:36 but thanks for the offer.
