I have played with Google Earth for quite a while, but a friend of mine bought a house and I put in the address at on Yahoo Maps. Was astounded to see that you can get a "street" view with actual photos of the house. Then I tried my address and it worked as well. I think what they have done is film particular areas and you can view it in still images. Of course, not every place has been done, but quite a few have.

My link is below. Try putting your own address in and in the navigation in the top left (where the zoom in and zoom out is located), you'll see a figure of a person. If that is lit up, you can grab that "person".....once you do and start to place it on the map, you'll see some streets light up blue, allowing you to place the figure on those spots to get a street level view. Hope that makes sense?

Here's my house and you can go from there:

oops, trying to figure out why it's not working.....standby!

ahhh, there we go:

The little man didn't light up for me but they have updated the pics and it looks like they caught my neighbor's teal 22 running on Lake Oakland. Google my addy at 3480 Floretta St. 48346 and zoom in on the boat. Is it a 22C?

You can also do this on www.zillow.com , This site will show you house values, in your neighborhood. You can zoom in and it has street level views in some cases.

Yep. Streetview rules. Jacksonville was not online with StreetView when I started looking for my house. A couple of weeks into my search, I checked again just for the heck of it, and there it was. It was a great help in my search.

The way it works is pretty neat. They have cars with 360 degree cameras and gps units, that actually drive around these towns to get the images.

I'm looking for a used riding mower today. Guy I spoke with told me he's in a trailer park. Now way they'd drive that google car thru the trailer park, right? Wrong. IT's in there.

Coolest St view project I've seen so far is on Sampsonia Way in Pittsburgh. They found out the map car was in town, and got them to agree to hit this street at a certain time. They set up all kinds of craziness. Big giant chicken in a yard. A parade. Mad scientists in a garage. All kinds of whacky stuff. Some artist pulled it off. Neat idea. Here's a link, and a pic of the chicken.

vary 10-20% per month here. All I can figure is it is the foreclosure market in MI. I was going crazy looking at it on our house for sale. I stopped.

I placed the stick figure on a local bridge and I could see the video truck's outline in a shadow on the street.

I think I'll look into this, it's incredible to me how much area they must cover to get all these images.

Photo of my house is less than 2 years old, I can tell because my wife's car is in the driveway and we haven't had it for more than 2 years now.

Buiz, you've got to be mistaken, I don't think they've been doing this for more than a couple, three years? You must be talking about the sat. images, not the street level images?

If you want to see the crazy stuff, just go to maps.google.com and type in sampsonia way, pittsburgh, pa. That'll get you in the right place. Short street. More of an alley really.

Oh, and i bought the mower from the trailer park guy.
