crossover install belt ?

Now that I don't need my water pump on my engine both alternator and pwr stearing pump belts are needed a lot shorter is there a way to find out what size is needed for my 383 should I just cut up a old belt

Take the boat with you...I did the string thing...after three trips to the parts store, I trailered the boat to the store...the guys brought out belts and I didn't have to get in and out of the boat...they wanted me to leave it in their parking lot to draw attention.
