to your quest concerning drive showers.
There's a discussion here;
http://www.seriousoffshore.com/forums/showthread.php?t=571 about drive gear lube. A couple of the contributors had some interesting ideas concerning cooling lube oil w/o a shower.....
Here's one of the products;
http://www.drewmarine.com/products/coolswirl/coolswirl.html
It contains a remote cooler and circulating pump. There's also another w/a filter included.
Interesting stuff.

Thanks, George. I will look into that more. At the near stock power that I am running though I don't know that drive temp is a real concern. A few things that have kept me from installing a drive shower:

1. There is a lot of water flying around back there already, especially with the shorty. The drive is not sitting "high & dry".
2. Possible loss of top speed.
3. No conclusive proof that the shower is pumping significant water at speed.
4. At least one guy with a drive temp gauge reporting no significant drop in drive oil temp with a shower.
5. Not sure it is needed at my power level.

I'm not looking to rehash the whole drive shower debate. That is here on another thread. Just stating why I don't run one. If I greade my drive then I guess maybe I will have learned yet another lesson the hard way.
