generator needed 38 1993 searay sunsport

when i purchased the boat generator was removed to be repaired then stolen would love to find a gene to replace it but have no idea what to look fornoidea what size or compatable model ?

Bigger is better ! most of the boats I've seen in that range are generally rigged within the 6kw range which is ok but there's not much power to spare when your dependent on just the gen set. On my last cruiser I had a 10 kw and was glad I did. I had two air units, fridge, ice maker / fridge combo, stove ect and it never skipped a beat. Where you really appreciate the extra power is if your anchored out somewhere and your cruising friends need some spare juice :bonk:.

For my money I've always liked Kohler. One thing you should consider is the availability of service and the ability of the mfg to support you if you need parts while your away from port.
