Back "then" and 250's-270's-280's, from DONZI or anyone for that matter, what was the preferred or "Manual" directed method of storing the drive while "up" and being trailered down the Highway" ?

Was the pin/ram that lifts it on one side supposed to be sufficent for the bumps and humps while trailering or did Volvo boats ALWAYS have a rope on them ? OR, was there a trailering bracket that I do not know about?

Lenny,
I forgot all about it until you asked. I used to have a SS trailering bracket that snapped in the holes at the bottom of the transom assembly on my old Volvo drive- I believe where the adjustment hole selections are for the pin. You would drop the drive down on that bracket (a bent SS rod custom made for trailering). If you need one, I can look on Friday to see if I tucked it away when I changed to the trimable drive. Bill

Lenny; If you do a search for... biggest engine in a 16c.... You can see the bracket on the bottom of the drive..

It won't let me download the pic a 2nd time, and I don't know how to get around it......Ed

Poodle, why are you awake and I haven't gone to bed yet and we have a three hour spread. ???

Someones $ucked up.

I was pleasantly surprised to find you could still order them from Volvo..

Enlighten me please as to what was "suggested by the Manufacturer" but not a local remedy.

I gotta go to bed...

Lenny -

My boat still has the original U-shaped bracket. I think of it as a kickstand. I don't tow very much or very far, but there is almost no chance of it popping out - it's a tight fit.

Here's a pic of my 200 upper w/ Matty's old 250 lower - freshly/cheaply painted in the good from far/ far from good motif :)

Use the bracket as shown in Jay's photo. Hook a bungie cord (color matched to the boat:wink:) on one side of the bracket, run it up and over the drive to the other side of the bracket. Then even if the drive bounces hard enough to come off the bracket the bungie will hold the bracket in position and the drive will drop right back in position.

They were still available a couple years ago.

Not ol'Red or Grizz

on the bracket for the 250 and 270 no need to bungee the bracket locks into the reverse lock mechanism the bracket for the 250 270 ( not sure on the 280 290) is different from what jay has and probably yours too frank

i'll snap a few pics after we get back from the ski weekend we are going on

You got that right!
Do you still have to use a big hammer to knock it free?

-----Gee!!!,,,Sounds like you guys got it covered. I had one of those brackets for Marios Corsican. I think it went with the boat. Matty is correct that once in place they pretty much cant be dislodged........Bill S

Lenny,
Here you go. This one will be easy to use compared to the old ones like I might still have. Bill
