Just 2 basic questions that I need to know. Do lifelines hold an unconcious person's face up out of the water and do the cheapest versions still have impact protection?

The Idea behind every good life vest is to keep you floating face up which is why most of the floataion is in the front, I Believe all good vests have an impact rating, some 75mph, some 100, etc

The 75 mph, 100 mph rating is not an Impact rating. If a jacket is rated as a 75 mph jacket, the Mfg is saying it should stay on following a 75 mph impact, not that it will provide any impact protection at 75 mph.

I thought they had some kind of impact resistant panels inside or something? Is that just certain ones? Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion Carl...
i was talking about "ski" vests that have a MPH claim on them, not Lifelines...

My two have the "Flak" material... They are CERTAINLY on your body, no question. With them on I feel like Superman. Think Orange Marshmallow with some black burnt bits...

Not pretty tho,.. then again, neither am I ... :D

The flack material causes the Lifeline jacket to be stiffer and is not as comfortable in a Classic 22 seat when wrapped around my portly self.

That is what I needed to know, thanks.
