hats off to the bisbee az school district that has figure out if they closed fridays and add an hour a day in the remaining 4 that they can make up the budget shortfalls and have no layoffs. the district by this move will save a half a million dollars a year. with no impact on the level of education the children get or job loss.

now if this school could just learn the a$$holes in washington

Sounds pretty creative.

Do you know if teacher and school bus driver pay stays constant, and the savings are from operating costs like AC, lights, diesel, etc? (Otherwise, the savings are similar to furloughs, in that no one is completely laid off, but they get fewer hours and less pay. Not even saying that's wrong, just curious. Still sounds like a good plan.)

I suppose it may also be shifting some of the costs onto increased daycare burdens on parents.

the story was quick on the news they did say it saved 13 jobs i would guess it would be a combination of both but not really sure
