I'm looking for some feedback on what I should be asking for my '69 16' Classic. It's been through a restoration with the deck taken off the hull, the wood striped back and replaced and reglassed. It has the original Morse control unit and the upholstry is all like new.

The motor is a HM 302. The motor was pulled from the boat and checked out by Performance Plus Marina in Largo, FL. Compression, etc. is excellent. While the motor was out the engine compartment was sanded, gel coated and painted white. The carb is a new Holly 550, the mid housing was rebuilt while the engine was out, the starter, alternator and water pump have all been replaced. I put a new impeller in the water pump every year. We also added a fuel seperator. A new battery tray was built to accomodate two batteries and an A/B switch was added. All gauges work.

The things that may be draw backs to some are that the vent intakes were moved towards the front of the boat and are a lower profile fiberglass opening. It really looks very nice. When the cap was put back on the hull the lift eyes were put on 90 degrees off. Check the photos for both of these. The vent pictures show the old trailer, not the new Rolls Axle. There is no carpet so there are some minor scratches from people's feet on the floor. Nothing serious.

The boat sits on a new Rolls Axle trailer, all aluminum and stainless. It has been stored in my garage.

Why am I consider selling it? Over the past two years I have used it 8 times for less than 8 running hours. I love the boat but I hate to see it sit. If anyone can give me an idea of what I should ask for it please let me know. If the market is not there for it I'll keep it as it makes me smile even to just see it sitting in the garage!

Thanks for any feedback you can offer.

It is worth nothing. Give it to me, and I'll try to figure out what to do with it.

Looks nice on the outside.....
Post some more pix of the engine, drive, instruments, interior etc....
Do you know the hull #?
History?

Matty wrote a good summary a few months ago on how to ball park the valuation on one of these......

see if this helps sort of a guideline see where your boat fits

Price

0-$5000 : usually the low end of this range is a total wreck trees in the bilge, no motor or drive basically a hull needing a complete mechanical and cosemetic resto. The middle of this range could be a decent boat with one major flaw either mechanical or cosemetic either no/ bad motor and drive and a good hull or a good motor/drive and a bad hull wet stringers transom soft deck or in need of paint or gel. The higher end of this range would be a great boat in perfect shape with no power or a boat falling apart with a brand new "hot" motor

$4000-$7000 : usually and older original classic well maintained over it's life needing some work the lower end of the range would need some major need like a gas tank or an interior which today can be an issue or some glass work or less a trailer.
The high end of this range is a good boat that has no major needs maybe a buffing or a tune up or some minor help

$7000-$12,000 : the low end of this range is a GOOD boat mechanically and cosemeticly a turn key boat with a trailer hit the water and run, the high end of this range is the "mint" restoration where the boat has been gone thru and looks GREAT and runs Great

This guideline is for the older 16 and 18

some good things about a 67 16 the ones I have seen and the one I owned did not have coring in the deck just glass and pvc pipe supports which is a BIG plus no wet coring or soft deck to worry about, the 351w and the volvo are very strong and parts are available and not too expensive another plus.
The boat looks to be well cared for again a plus.

Now the possible negatives, The gas tank in a 67 is a problem if it hasn't been addressed will be the biggest minus of the boat and as in all boats if there is any major moisture or rot in the transom and stringers

If I can be of any help , I knew my boat fairly well and have been over other 67's so if you have a questions please ask

good luck with the sale

Thanks for the feed back and advice on how to value. The gas tank was replaced when the cap was off the hull and the stringers are dry and solid. Everything about the boat is in very good condition. It's a turnkey boat and doesn't need anything. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate it at a 9.7. I'll get some pictures of the engine and engine compartment, etc. tomorrow and add them. The restoration is at about $18k including the trailer. Based on what was posted I'd put it in the $10k to $12k range.

Thanks for the advice. It's much appreciated. Now I have to decide if I really want to part with it. Maybe I'll drop it in the water this weekend and get over this thought of selling it.
