Emerald Coast Poker Run 2009, August 11th-16th, Destin, FL

Anybody going to this this this year?

We went last year on the lil' Cape Horn 17 and had a blast just idlin' and looking at the rides. Happy to be going on a Donzi this year!

We can go....I use to live in Pensacola. I've did the run @ 5 years ago and it was a blast!!!

Were for sure going.....Gonna be a couple of Donzis from our area going also. Thinking bout going down on thursday afternoon and coming home on monday. Trying to find something with a boat slip now. They say that sunday is the biggest day of the year at Crab Island.:rock:

Sunday is the biggest day there! The Emerald Coast poker run is a fun time. One draw back is there are a lot of boats and we get pounded by boat wake! Advice is........stay in front!!!:bonk:

Good times for sure. We should be there. It's a shotgun start w/ no rules on where you start or what order you do the stops in so it's pretty laid back. I think there were 7 card stops last years so you can skip a couple if you want and still have a full poker hand. There is usually a card stop on Pensacola Beach so check for rooms there if you can't find anything in Destin or Ft Walton Beach.

Now if I can only figure out how to post the helicopter footage...

Yes, Hooters @ Pensacola Beach....I've heard they serve fine quisine. You can anchor in shallow water and walk up the beach to the boardwalk with other bars and restaurants.......pure white sandy beaches too!:cool!:

We've got a couple of places narrowed down that are within the harbor. Figured we might better go ahead and book a place before the regular crowd hits full force.

We thought about doing the run this year being we have boat that it's possible in. Did'nt know how far Pensacola was so we planned on staying around the Destin/Ft. Walton area....Although Hooters does sound quite nice....Saw your boat a couple of times passing and also at Eufaula....Looked awesome!

We mainly go for the "partay". Filled the CC last year with 50 gallons and ended up pulling it home with around 45 b/c we just idled around the harbor and out to the island.....Still had a blast!

Ft.Walton / Destin will be closer to all of the stops. The furthest stop West is Hooters and it's @ hour andfifteen minutes from Destin going a hard 60 the whole way. If you don't make it all the way to Hooters, Wanna Pagoda's sp? in in Navarre and that's a cool bar on the water....same thing, just beach your boat and walk up!

Booked a condo last night at Harbor Landing fellas......You guys know of any boat slips to be rented? Harbor Landing has a marina but I don't think our condo came with a slip. Used a guys dock last year and I'd rather have a lil better place to tie up to this year. Who do you guys use?

There is a ramp on the SE side of the Ft.Walton bridge. It's a nice one too. That's where I drop in at.:yes:

Ended up calling and getting slips @ the condo were staying in so everything worked out great!....All thats left now is the wait till august...Ugh!:nilly:

Got the condo set and the boat ready....Were sitting on go! Leaving that thursday around lunch or so. Hope to see some of you guys there. Were at Harbor Landing on the back side of the harbor. Gonna have 2 other Donzis in our crew and a 23 Scarab.

Will do! I'll try to send you a PM with the digits when I get a chance. I went ahead and entered the run this year. I think were just mainly gonna stay around the bay and do the closer stops though. I tried to get a map of the stops so I could figure them out ahead of time but they took the link down off thier website. They also changed the captains meeting from the Swamp to AJ's this year.

Yeah it is a lil pricey but after going through the weekend last year and paying $50 ea to go to the Poker Run party & 40 for a cooler we figured it was the better deal....We registered early for $450, I think it's $495 now...This is all thats included.

Eddie was the smallest a few years back running his 22. He was featured on "Powerboating in Paradise" as being the smallest boat there.

Had an invite. I have a good bit going on but my buddy John will be there and he invited me down. I won't have time to grab the ZX (it will be down in Sept though). On the upside, I will be riding with him in his Outerlimits with Teague 1,100's. It should be a good time.

Hedge could'nt pick you guys out with all the boats there. We tried to get out of the gate early on saturday to beat the rain and rough water.....I think we gambled wrong though! :bonk:We ended up going to Juannas and coming back. (5) stops total.

Steve, It was good meeting you. I'm hoping next year the clouds & rain will stay away from us!

All in all had a blast yet again! Will be going back next year and making the run again. Just hoping the water is a lil calmer for the 22!

We smoked a tranny after the second stop. We were running around 105 when it let go. Nortec sold us one that afternoon and we changed it that night. Getting back on the water took priority over festivities. Oh well, the worst we did was have some good food and a nice weekend.

The boat wake is a killer for the 22's!!!!!! Next year I will be back. I couldn't make it this year to a few broken bones!!!! :bonk:
