Rhode Island hit 10% last week. The highest (RI) unemployment rate in three decades. We are hoping we can be first and beat Michigan. It's always nice to be "Well Above Average". John

We here in CA are making our bid for 'best of the best' as well....

On the budget deficit chart, we need a whole new shade of red just for us.

It's really a bummer to be FIRST in all the categories that you wish you could be last in. . . :garfield:

But we are getting good, and consistent, at demonstrating a dominating leadership position in all the "States that suck the most" catagories.

Michigan RULES! At least we have some of the most beautiful boating lakes in the world at our door step. :boat:

Lenny, yes and no. Wyoming experienced a serious boom in the oil and gas industry in the last 3 years, mainly around the Jonas Field.. Also, 80% of the country's coal is produced here. That being said, pockets of Wyoming without energy deposits are hurting, including Jackson Hole.

Ever since I lived here everyone thought Jackson Hole was immune. Property values have increased 1%-1.5% for the last 20 years. Jackson's economy is based on tourism, not oil and gas. Now property values are decreasing and Jackson is beginning to hurt.

The places seeing to boom are doing great, like Casper, Pinedale, LaBarge, etc....
