the 2 clubs I belong to have an adopt a platoon program.We had members who's sons were in Afganastan and Iraq and we sent them sundries and other items for them and their platoon. a good friend of mine from The AOH works as a door man at a big time high end hotel in midtown Manhattan where the stars stay. a few years back he helped paul newman out of his limo and he chatted with him and told him about the program and said a case of spaghetti sauce or salad dressing would help out. Paul Newman said sure I'll see what I can do send the info to my room.

A week later an 18 wheeler pulled up full of Paul Newman products ready to be sent over seas. Class guy he'll be missed.

reminds me I have some stuff to be dropped off at the American legion to be sent over there.
