That's quite impressive - I wonder if they figured that out on their own or if they had seen it done before?

Also makes me think California crows need to ride the short bus - I recently caught one on in the marina in a mousetrap.

I've heard crows are shockingly bright. Yours was probably just clumsy, and hurt himself setting the trap.

I was a Yellowstone snowmobile guide in 1994. Use to make sure everyone took everything out of their snowmobiles at lunch at Old Faithful. There is a "trunk" in the seat accessed through a rear flap with velcro, fairly hard to open.

The blackbirds would open this flap and steal everything in there, gloves, jewlery, wallets, food, everything.......smart birds.
