What prop is he running. Was that a 23P or 25P Mirage?

I know it's a 25, but I think it's a Mirage plus. RPMs are too high at 5300-ish. That puts him at a real speed in the upper 70's.

With a new prop he'll be in better shape but he still hasn't decided what to get though.

It's got an upgraded cam and a couple of other goodies so it should be making more than stock HP. Nothing crazy, probably 500 at the prop instead of the factory 470.

A 25P M+ at those RPM's?? I'm in the 76-MPH range with my 25P Mirage+ at 5200-5300 RPM's. Cool video, nice acceleration.

Those numbers sound about right to me. I wish my speedo spun around that fast!
(and I'm working on a plan to help with that)

Ya, but he's bustin 80-MPH @ 5,300 RPM. Not with a 25P.

I'm with you...My King Cobra has a 1.43:1 ratio and won't do that. Could he have a 1.20:1 drive ratio?

5300 rpm...25p M+...1.5 ratio... and he figures he's in the upper 70's. Without doing the math, and assuming good slip numbers, I'd say that's around the right area off the top of my head.

That was my 22 in the video.... totally unplanned day plus video. I can tell you that the oil filled speedo did what you saw. I also know it is not accurate like a GPS, however it sure did make me feel good having it pegged and it never did with a 454/425. I also have to say that it was just a fun video, nothing serious and just full of fun..... the way it is supposed to be in a boat, period. I was not at work and we were not cold!!!! Thanks for all the nice comments!!! Hope to meet everyone some day on a fun run.....

Bro: I'm for sure jealous. Besides the speed it's currently 59 degrees in my bedroom. Outside is friggin rediculous. Don't worry though, wood fired ovens keep things warm

Cool boat.

I didn't even think about the drive ratio.

It's quite possible that you were bouncing off the rev limiter with that prop. with that much power I suspect there's a TXP prop in 3 or 4 blade config that will really make that boat fly.

I would say you might want to check out the Rev 4 prop but I don't think they make it larger than 25P and I think you need more than that.

THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! Man, after seeing snow and ice for two days, watching that really brought me back to reality. Amazing acceleration, btw. You might want to watch out for a guy bugging you for a ride at AOTH
