Whats the total number on this edition?

I believe I bought hull #8 back friday at auction.....

It is indeed the grey one with silver stripes that was reported stolen out of TX.

Just looking for some info on it.

Thanks

Well Mercme I guess it was just meant to be. I am happy for you. I remember when I first met you with that boat, YOU had that Donzi owners glow. You told me at Eufaula you were going to get back in a Donzi. Welcome Home!!! I EXPECT to see you at Eufaula this year, or the Donzi gods will hunt you down like a rabid dog:yes::yes::yes::yes:

Thanks Randy!, I guess it was meant to be, Spent all day cleaning her up yesterday. Has a nick or 2 on the side below where the letters were and a 2 inch scratch where someone ripped the CP cover off quick. Missing the center piece of carpet....but other than that shes still in great shape. Finally got the batteries to hold a charge about 4 p.m. and fired her up. Gotta lil miss on one side but I think it might be some old gas that was left in her when she left here last year. 141 total hours...

We WILL be @ Eufaula for sure.....Also gonna be @ the Destin event along with the Emerald Coast Poker Run in AUG.

Anyone? Or would it be called an X-22?

if it doesn't have the AE dash plaque I would call it a GT 22 or 22 GT

Matty trust me It is a 22 classic platform like the Shelby. The story is too involved to go into on the board.

Randy,

i know what the boat is it is a GT 22 so called cause Donzi had a license problem with the Aronow name and before shelby signed on they were called a GT that is the dealer meeting boat :) it was also the photo shoot boat for the Bally's casino give away but by the time the raffle was pulled the boat given away was not that boat but an early shelby with a similar color scheme the week of the AC boat show
I went to win the boat and lost my shirt i took some pics of the boat on the casino floor but i lost my dig camera too

Matty, you are 100 % correct. Here are a couple photos of THIS boat.
One of the photo shoot and the other is in the water at the dealer meeting.
THIS boat is a 22 GT. Not an Aronow.

that first shot looked awesome as you pulled into AC on a 50 foot billboard they had like 5 billboards along the AC expwy

So how many of these things were made?.......Is this the only cobra grey one?

mattyboy

not many maybe 5 or so, there were a few shelby's that color including the give away boat, to give you and idea of time frame the dealer meeting was sept of 2005 the giveaway during the week of the AC boat show was the first week feb of 2006 and there were 2 shelby's in ac that week so they went to shelby's not to long after the dealer meeting

Donzi also told me they dont have that engine hatch mold anymore. They sent me a Shelby hatch for a warranty settlement for my AE#2. I believe there we only 8 -10 22s made with that hatch. The Shelby hatch is much liter but the AE has the look. IMO

I posted in another thread a link to boattrader.com where Pier 57 had a blue one listed last month labeled "X-22".......That may have been the blue one your talking about.

The hull I.D. (DNACX008H506) on the title if I'm reading it right states it was built in August '05? and is hull #8? as an '06 model. It had a fake HIN on it so they removed the HIN plate and theres a glue spot. I've heard a boat mfg won't make a duplicate so I'm trying to find someone who will make a plate now.

BaldEagle, I thought they had the same scoop on the 009 edition?

Yes, X008 means hull #8. These were the unique hull ID's they were putting on these boats; regular 22's did not have the X character.

So what's the story with the jerk-wad who stold the boat, do you know what happened? Sounds like they thought they could re-title the boat by covering up the original HIN.

My dad had a new ProLine stolen out of his yard in New Mexico a few years back. About 10-months later the NM State Police called him saying they had his boat, the guy hid the boat for 10-months then tried to register it in NM; what an idiot. Plus when he stold the boat they didn't raise the outboard and drug the skeg out the yard and all the way down the street.

Yup, you are correct on the hull I.D. info. If you carefully remove the rub rail
(both layers) right above where the plate on the hull was removed, there should be another plate hidden under the rub rail right there. That will help you duplicate what should be on the hull. It is the exact same plate.
Did yours get the 22 GT sticker on the dash? Yes, only 2 were made.
1 Blue and 1 silver, (yours)

OK, just am muddling through all the names and descriptions, this happens to us old guys. Truth is in real life the boat look real good, my personal tastes likes it better than the Shelby, but that could be because Merc's was sitting on the deck. Btw for the people that don't know, she looks better then his avtar:yes::yes: She ranks right up there with Kathy and the others.

For whatever reason, that color just looks right to me for that paint job and hatch. No offense to anyone who prefers other colors, but that one makes me sit up and take notice. Good lookin boat.

Thanks for the compliments guys! We really love the boat and it gets looks everywhere. What gets me was the thumbs up from the mustang guys when we were pulling it home. Were trying to find some possible names for her now.....I kind like "Eleanor"

Just caught that Grizz! She kept looking for it when I damn near gave up and is the reason we have this thing today. She's looking for matching bikinis for the summer as I type! The Donzi population is growing down the southeastern corner of AL. The count's up to 3!
