We have a new member here on the registry that has a 22C with an outboard. It stated me wondering if anyone had put outboards on a ZX?? How would outboards handle versus an inboard?

I am going to get hammered for this but I am a glutton for punishment so here it goes...Has anyone ever tried a hybrid? 2 outboards and a say 850 HP stern drive? What would that do to handling? I would think the center of gravity would go back and the power to weight ratio would go way up. How would a ZX with an supercharged aluminum small block (say 600 hp) stern drive and a couple of 350 Verados handle. It would have to be fast...wouldn't it??

Let me have it...Fire away:bonk::nilly::bonk:

Your 22 classic is so sweet. The only reason I didn't go with one is the no storage thing. If I would have thought about twin outboards and still have a trunk I would be set by now. I would not have to worry about the FatSack..water bag thing for weight..My wife would have found plenty of stuff to put back there in the trunk to weight it down!!!

I am just kidding about the hybrid thing..That 22 Classic is nice though....you guys had better hope that he does not throw another 300X on that thing!!

I believe the Right Honorable Senator from Greenwood Lake is once again correct.

I never really looked at a ZF ...but I guess that you are right except for the closed bow thing and they still make the ZF and they don't make the ZX.

F*ck...Matty beat me to it.

Slightly smaller cabin and more deck room (for RED Bikini Clad Hotties of course) and a ZF is a ZX with clip-ons.

Maybe not quite as fast, but I can go past the Coast Guard with ZX's and other Go-fasts without getting stopped...see the Coasties have outboards and they think other folks with outboards ar OK...at least that's what I tell myself.

Plus Look at my Avitar....Can a ZX Do that?

I think SilverBack should fill in his transom and stick a jack plate on, add a couple of 300's and see how she runs.

What size trim tabs would you need for that config?

Will the pad problem still be a pad problem?

Is your room on the Rig drywalled? And if so, what are the chances it says "Made in China" on the backside ???

A couple??? If I do that it is going to be three 300s back there!!

Steel!!! There is not drywall offshore....maybe a few composite panels.

I am back home now though...Please forgive me for asking questions and making a joke every now and then..I know that it is hard for you experts to put up with me...I did not mean to offend anyone's sensibilities!!

I saw the boat on OSO where you posted it. Did it have a stern drive before?

HIGH LIFE

Yes, all MAGNUM's came with sterndrives, except the 27' center console about 1986. When I purchased this boat the previous owner did the conversion. Boat is a 1973,has 18" Stainless Marine bracket, Merc tabs 12" X 16", 4-blade Hydromotive props, carries 164 gal of gas in 4 tanks. Still has engine compartment, that I use for storage. I thought of installing a third motor, but would only gain app. 7mph, cost would not justive increased speed, but would look wild. How much does a ZX weigh, does it have a step? HIGH LIFE

Remind me never to work on an oil rig, obviously being that isolated makes the mind do some strange things..........:bonk:

A 22C hybrid may not fly, but I have read tests on larger boats with both diesel and turbine power.
