Despite my pending financail demise based on a severe Donzi addiction, twins on the way, and building this monstrosity, work has progressed nicely. Both the house and guest cabin are fully sealed. Shop is only missing it's doors. The interior is moving fast. The first two pics are the outside of the main house. Third is the guest cabin (Looks almost done) and the 4th is the great room inside the main house. Should be open for business in mid-April. Buiz, gonna be ready for ya this summer! Plus, you get to ride in the Critter with a 1200 hp engine and a number 8 Arneson.

Anytime.

I-80 is about as different from Jackson Hole as Hawaii is from Sidney BC. Need to go abotu 180 mile north, then you hit the Rockies and Tetons. I tried to explain this to Lenny, but I still think he thinks all of Wyoming looks like I-80 LOL. This is what it looks like in Jackson Hole-

I hear you I did! I used to run east coast to west coast every week to 10 days for 25 years. Now I just run Buffalo to Chicago and back. Definitely lots more time to go BOATING now! LOL They would not let us big rigs anywhere close to the upper west corner of Wy. If I remember right! Closest I've been to that part of the country was A cross the border in Id. picking up taters! LOL I did get into down town Casper once. Found A great old steam train on display right next door to where I was delivering

Oh yeah. With a boiler. I have been in several cabins and houses out here in the winter that had it and I was sold. Warm feet in the winter....... Have a central wood burning fireplace also.

Shop has two propane heaters, 70000 and 45000 btu.

I stayed in a house in South Africa that had heat in the floor, When I got up in the morning and put my clothes on that had been laying on the heated floor was totally awesome. If I ever build a house it will definatly have heated floors. Thats an incredible place you have, enjoy it (and don't pay any attention to the schmuck neighbor)

It is a tough system to beat, especially for the "comfort" factor.

The house looks excellent, enjoy.

If my travels ever take me to JH, I will look you up, if only for a ride in a 22 foot boat with 1200 HP.

Is this a "kit" log home or a custom design? Looks great!

What kind of boat has the 1200 hp?

Come and stay a spell. :)

It is a custom, Boo Boo and I designed it. It is half log. Meaning the house is framed and insulated, then logs cut length wise are attached. You can not tell it is not real log. Get the best of both worlds kinda thing.

Guest cabin is all log.

We have a post and beam, cedar plank for sale in Michigan. It doesn't have the log touches like the Lazy P, but we really love all the wood, and have the plans, so we can do it again, should we chose.

That is a beautiful spread DW, keep us posted.

That is a pretty pic  Very NICE

That DOES NOT look like I-80 . :D My last trip from the Midwest I purposely went South to lower Utah, Nevada, Oregon JUST to miss I-80. I can't do I-80 anymore. The only thing on that road is firecracker stands for 8 hours...

Sure looks nice John. Say hi to Margie from Deneen and I .

Don't blame you, I -80 is the most boring ugly road in the US. If you have never seen rolling hills of sage brush, 80 mph winds and a whole lot of nothing, take a drive down ole' I-80.

Got a nice vent system put in. Had to go propane, even though it is a wet heat, electric would have killed me on the power bill. Had 2 1000 gallon tanks buried. Should take care of me for 3 years.

It should, if you head directly accross the valley past the buffalo towards the Grand Teton, you would hit the airport.

Thanks Todd, it means alot. Building a project of this size is challenging. I am sure I will appreciate it more when it is done and everyone can come visit and stay a while. Gonna be hard for me to get to events for a while, but we never seem to have a lack of people wanting to come see Jackson Hole.:) Like I said, we built this so freinds can come visit.

After living here for 15 years, it seems we always had people coming to visit, winter and summer. They always stayed in Hotels and we felt that since we are here for the long haul, it would be nice if we could offer freinds a different experience than staying in a hotel. Over the years we have ammased a full line of clothing, winter and summer, fishing rods, rafts, boats, etc.... for guests.

We are real excited for visitors to come out. I think the first ones will probably be Boo Boo's parents.

Also, back on the Bronco, our guest car. Should be done around the time the Lazy P is done.

Here are a couple more pics of Jackson Hole-

A quick review of the maps shows the following:

Walnut Grove to Jackson - 863 mi
Walnut Grove to Page, AZ - 818
Jackson to Page - 654

So that means Jackson is "only" 699 miles out of the way.

Let's see...about 12 mpg towing and $2/gal for gas (at current rates) means $116 in gas. Not bad. But then figure an average over the road speed of 60 mph (if I'm lucky) means 11.65 hours extra driving. I'll have a hard time selling that one.

I've already kinda, sorta, floated the idea. She called in during a lay-over in Atlanta and I mentioned it....you know, just joking and all.

Funny how sometimes if I keep 'just joking' about things they eventually move to the 'well, maybe' pile and from there to the 'OK, why not' box.

That said, I'm not holding my breath. She'll barely drive the truck by itself, much less towing, so it's just me behind the wheel and on this trip she'll actually be working while we're traveling....have laptop (and cell modem) - will travel. It's the only way to work out the time away from the office that month.
