:bonk:Has anyboby put a 383 in an 18 Classic? The motor I an considering will have 460hp and 440tq at arround 5100 rpm. Would this be too muck motor for the hull? Drive is a B1. Yes I do want to go faster!?

Lots have and more. I have a 383 in my 18 but it only has around 350 hp. Go for it!

I Had a 408 in an 18. It was perfect. there have also been some big blocks in 18's. you'll be happy with a 383, really happy if it has the horsepower you say. Lighter is better.

You will LOVE that motor in an 18. The B1 is a natural for it. A 1-2" shortie would top the whole thing off and you could actually be "done" with mods ;)

Great choice  and the 5100 is reasonable too. Make sure the torque occurs respectably down low.

I hate to agree with the Buiz but I will. The bore stroke ratio and rod length just make a package that is so great.

I saw them for sale I am probably at least 2 years out before buying anything trying to get all my debt paid off and then pay cash for an engine. I am sure he wants to sell them before then. I was just wanting comments on the setup and specs if people thought it was a good overall package or would the change some stuff.

Mike, I got the 355 from them for my 16. I am real happy with the engine and the power. For the price, it is hard to beat.

I second the Harbor master thing. The are a reman center also. If I wasn't such a Ford person and my small boats have them, I would do it.

Thank you ALL for your input and responses. A 383 IT WILL BE!
I will post the info on the engine... block, heads, cam...etc. as I acquire them.
