I think this has been discussed before but my brain is all but dead. Sooo, back in '77, what would a '77 Pantera hull be ???

I know Pepe' was very successful in their Companies first Offshore offering and this is probably one of them but I was curious as to what lended itself to create their first Offshore hull. http://www.panteraboats.com/images/pantera_historypg1_2.jpg

Cig ?

Not a bad buy with two Yammy egg beaters. I would want an I/O tho.

Ya know what, that is just up the road from Buizz and while looking at it he could have a Burger for me too so that I can remember what 80 degrees and humidity feel like... :( Maybe take the V-rod for the run Jim.

It's hard to tell who made molds from what, but back then, Martini, Monza, Corsa and plenty others all had pretty much the same hull with small variations of the deck, some made 24', some 25', some 26', the original hull they used was probably a slightly modified 27 Magnum, Brownie would know for sure.

On a trip to FL with a friend to see the Worlds held by APPA, we wondered over to 188th street and toured every boat company there. It's amazing what a little bs can get you if you really want something. Anyways, at the time Pantera was located there and we met Pepe who showed us around. He showed us plans for a hardtop Pantera to be used in offshore racing. He said it would also be available to the general consumer. Don't know, but I've never seen it advertised or on the racing circut. Maybe it just didn't pan out as he thought it would. I have always liked the 24' Pantera and they had one sitting inside that had not been equiped with an engine or drive yet. It was complete white with Pink Panther graphics. Just an awesum boat in my opinion. Complete with standup bolsters that when you stood in them, it felt like sitting on top of a 16 Classic. Didn't seem like there was any boat under you. LOL Could only imagin what flying over a big swell, standing up in that boat musta felt like. I invisioned the old pictures you see of offshore racers just standing in a cockpit with no bolsters as they fly over what seemed and probably was some 10 + foot wave.

It was a very memorable day for sure. Saw I believe a Magnum that had a clear engine hatch and a Porshe engine in it. I believe it was a green or goldish metalflake? Its been many years ago now and has some of you know, my memory is showing my age :)

Cigarette was a little more hesitent about letting us see their operation, but yes, we got in there also. Amazing and beautiful boats are built there. Couldn't get my tongue up off the ground as we got to see some of the finished boats going out to customers.

Fort Apache was a speed boat lovers dream. The Little Ceasars 47' Apache was there being re-rigged. Not much to say about the Apache factory next door though. At the time, the boats were being built one at a time as the order came in for the boat. Had a few sitting at the dock outside though.

While we enjoyed our time there, it sure would've been neat to see 188th Street back in it's hey day. A memory though that I'm glad I have tucked away in my head. Nothing like it in todays world anymore.

Scotty B. Yes, I do remember the odd LARGE boat coming out of there. Not anything like the local boys tho :(

Anyways, any ideas of whose Hull became the 24' Pantera ?

Hard to tell, from the rear they all look the same. As a kid when they first did the 53 magnum we'd be cruising around in our Lil boston whaler and Brownie would come by just barlely on plane in the 53', thats the Biggest Wakes I have seen in my whole life. then he'd get on it and dust us.

You sold me--when I first looked at the picture at the start of the thread, I thought it was a 27 Magnum from the rail down.

Go to youtube. There are a bunch of great Pantera and Magnum interviews from the day, including, I believe, that Magnum Hoss being launched with a giant crane in Miami.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zJqoRVqieA

This particular boat is the 80 s/n 002

Magnums are truly the coolest and are Donzi to the third power. Strength, Ego, Balls, Excess, Testosterone, and Heterosexuality- in the nicest way possible. Did I mention Ego?

Also, type in "Miami Vice" on youtube. Great scenes with the old Stinger. Check out the dialogue from the black dude (Crockett?) when he was talking sh*t to the two drugdealers re: the white Cary with the wrong "pitch" on the props. Great acting and even greater outfits.
